Salary Hiring Range: $70,000-90,000 annually (paid bi-weekly)

Career Summary:

The Development Manager will have a goal for raising $2,000,000 annually from existing and prospective individual, foundation, and corporate donors to support the mission of the Foundation. The Development Manager is an integral member of the Development team of four (Director of Development, Development Manager, Grant Writer and Data Systems and Donor Relations Specialist). This role collaborates closely with the Program team and other ANAE departments.

Key Accountabilities/What you will do:

Solicitation of new and current prospects

  • Manage day-to-day correspondence with institutional funders, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

  • Direct outreach for fundraising and engagement events, including donor solicitation, in-kind partnerships, and solicitation tracking.

  • Assist in developing and implementing a fiscal year operating plan for individual and institutional giving to achieve the agreed upon and established Foundation annual revenue goal.

  • Focus on converting first-time donors to annual donors at $10,000 and below; and on creating and growing a personal portfolio of prospects with four figure and up gift potential.

  • Lead strategies and solicitations through Membership, ANA Enterprise points of purchase, social media, conferences and events, direct mail, and other donor acquisition points.

  • Create highly competitive case statements, sponsorship requests, and other collateral materials for solicitation purposes.

  • Coordinate institutional donors and fundraisers around National Nurses Month with a 6-figure revenue goal.

Strategy and Analysis

  • Prepare and present reports on fundraising activities to senior management and leadership.

  • Develop, execute, and oversee a strategy that prioritizes growth and positive donor ratings.

  • Manage and lead planning for Foundation fundraising events.

  • Analyze and create project scope and milestones for several Foundation initiatives.

  • Analyze donor data reports, mailing lists, and other prospect-gathering mechanisms to generate new prospect pipeline lists.

  • Conduct prospect research on current and potential donors.

  • Create briefings and strategy for donor visits and events.

  • Manage a tracking chart and work plans for proposals.

  • Manage external non-profit rating systems for the Foundation, such as Charity Navigator and Candid.

Stewardship and Relationship-building

  • Initiate opportunities for Board members and other volunteers as well as high level staff members to interact with prospects and donors.

  • Facilitate strategy meetings with fundraising staff.

  • Manage a sophisticated corporate advisory board. Including implementation of current benefits, retaining current members and recruiting new members.

  • Identify and develop donor stories and funding impact communication pieces for use in newsletters, annual reports, etc.

  • Develop donor relations and stewardship strategies for moderate donors and prospects, including donors through Membership, ANA Enterprise points of purchase, social media, etc.

  • Manage fundraising related content on the Foundation's website.

Collaboration

  • Collaborate with team members and external agencies to increase Foundation outreach.

  • Coordinate with the Data Systems and Donor Relations Specialist on donation processing, donor acknowledgements, reporting, and data systems oversight.

  • Coordinate with the Grant Writer on proposal case development and pitch.

  • Assist the Director of Development as well as support and participate in organizational initiatives and projects, as needed.

  • Hold regular meetings with all departments to ensure open communication and expectations throughout a project.

  • Act as a liaison between the Foundation and the ANAE for two annual events: Membership Assembly and the Magnet and Pathway Conference. Coordinate fundraising efforts for both events.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Preferred degree/competencies: project management, business management, communications, or marketing.

Related Work Experience:

  • Five (5) years or more experience in fundraising roles at non-profits.

Skills Required:

  • Analyze and create project scope and milestones for initiatives and proper communication concerning changes or challenges that may affect the outcome of a project's completion date.

  • Strategize and plan fundraising events.

  • Results-oriented with demonstrated personal successful donor cultivation and solicitation experience with a range of donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations preferred.

  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.

  • Highly adaptive, change-positive personality capable of working effectively within a team structure and independently.

  • Knowledge and experience in fundraising best practices and regulations.

  • Good judgment and integrity.

  • Broad degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including excel, PowerPoint, word.

  • Adept at analyzing data.

  • Experience with Personify and donor CRM a plus.

Work Schedule:

Hybrid employees must work a minimum of 20% in the office.
