U-Haul is seeking a Development Intern to join our team!

Our Internships are paid and allow for flexible schedules to work around school obligations, they are designed to become permanent roles while providing real world experience to students and recent graduates.

The intern will be working closely with the Development Supervisor on current projects at the U-Haul Technical Center. Duties include designing, developing, supporting, and maintaining applications for projects at the U-Haul Technical Center in Tempe, AZ.

The intern will interface with other departments across the company in order to ensure the project's success.

  • Assist in design, develop, implement, and maintain scripts, functions and stored procedures.

  • Programming experience in Oracle PL/SQL with 10g or 11g a plus or other related SQL Language.

  • Experience with the use of query tools such as TOAD is plus.

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organization, coordination, analytical and communications skills

Learning Outcome/Training:

  • The intern will receive hands on training of PL/SQL programming, Unix shell scripting, and Purchasing and Warehousing business process


  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science or CIS is required.


  • Varies- Up to 40 hours per week depending on availability

The intern will conduct techno-economic assessment (TEA) under different configurations of utility PV systems integrated with BESS with the aim of evaluating a target period capacity factor framework for system design. Expected Length of Internship: * 3 month summer internship (June through August 2019). Experience: * Classroom and/or work experience in energy sector and specifically in PV systems and/or energy storage systems Education: * Must currently be enrolled in a Master's or PhD program Required Skills/Competencies: * Techno-economic assessment, life cycle costing Basic Internship Scope (Project): * Electric utilities are increasingly seeking utility-scale PV + BESS systems for providing dispatchable electricity generation to meet peak demand periods. The internship will provide techno-economic analysis using a target period capacity factor framework to optimize utility-scale PV + BESS design. * The intern will complete a case study evaluating the potential for utility-scale PV + BESS systems to achieve high capacity factors during a specified peak demand period for a project in California, and estimate the net benefit-cost ratio of a new PV + BESS system compared to a new natural gas peaker facility. The case study will be prepared for conference and/or journal publication. * Upon the completion of this internship, the intern is required to present their accomplishments and project summary to the leadership team.
