POSITION OVERVIEW Section Manager / Engineering Manager 4 - Semiconductor Systems R&D
The Semiconductor BU Systems R&D team is seeking a high performing Section Manager with strong leadership, communication, process development, and project management skills. This individual will be responsible for standing up, driving, and evolving the Systems R&D team in a market area with high growth and tight time to market expectations. This position is located in the NI HQ in Austin, TX, recently awarded #1 Best Place to Live by US News for the 2nd year in a row.
Program Management of Semiconductor Systems Efforts:
Manage and grow a multi-million-dollar product line, delivering advanced systems that address cutting edge applications
Meet project conceptualization, delivery and process excellence goals
Manage multiple projects from conception to fruition; utilizing abilities to drive project schedules with aggressive time lines
Approve project phase gates
Set program and organizational goals
Effectively communicate to all product-line stake holders including, but not limited to, upper management
Align multi-year development plans with Offering Management and Product Planning organizations
Drive efforts to mitigate risks and create tradeoffs on schedule/features/cost/quality
Address and drive reactive quality initiatives
Nurture the professional development of the team.
Hire and onboarding new team members
Implement talent management processes
Determine organizational skills mix and resultant hiring plan
Foster an environment of innovation and continuous improvement in the team.
Develop New Organizational Processes:
Drive establishment of new processes within the BU that address pressing business needs
Drive establishment of new roles within the BU that address pressing business needs
Evaluate and implement company-wide initiatives
Optimize System R&D interactions with functions such as Offering Management and Product Planning
Establish and execute quarterly a R&D Portfolio Management process
Enable Early Market R&D Engagements:
Drive evaluation of new system development projects
Improve market requirements understanding of System R&D team
Enable pre-system kickoff engagements with lead customers

6 years of product development experience
Thorough understanding of testing concepts
Thorough understanding of R&D product schedule management
Good understanding of electronics concepts
Experience in NI software and hardware is a plus
