Development Compliance Inspector - Planning And Zoning

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision of the Planning and Zoning Administrator, performs code enforcement and professional-level technical research. Conducts site inspections to evaluate compliance with City regulations and development conditions of approval. Responsible for taking steps in accordance with City policies to remedy violations. Work involves extensive communication with the public, across the City's departments, and outside agencies, with a high degree of diplomacy.

Essential Job Functions

• Conducts field inspections to identify potential development and code compliance issues.

• Performs detailed analyses of land use entitlement and engineering documents to assure conformity with development conditions of approval, regulations, and ordinances; conducts research of property ownership and entitlement records as needed.

• Confers with developers and the general public regarding development compliance issues to achieve compliance and outlines solutions for corrective action.

• Responds both orally and in writing to any property owner, developer, business owner, or any other entity alleged to be in violation of Eagle City code, planning and zoning regulations, adopted city policies, or other city regulations and pursues enforcement actions as needed.

• Generates and maintains accurate documentation that will support the City's position in a court of law and testifies in court as needed.

• Works in conjunction with local law enforcement and the City attorney with regard to enforcement of City codes, as necessary.

• Makes recommendations to the Planning and Zoning Administrator regarding updates to code enforcement policies and procedures.

• Maintains a detailed log of code enforcement activities, monitors progress, and adheres to established deadlines.

• Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies, procedures, and safety practices.
