The JCA is currently hiring for a full-time Development Associate position. We are looking for someone who is skilled, proactive, and passionate to join our growing and vibrant community.

The J is the town square of Jewish life in Southern Maine. Guided by values rooted in Jewish tradition, we are open to all people of all ages. Everyone belongs, while some may choose to formally join. As our community continues to grow, we are seeking to build community through innovative Jewish programming. The J practices radical inclusivity and is a safe, non-judgmental space for all.

This is a full-time position with the opportunity to work remotely a maximum of twice per week. Working hours are 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Requires occasional in-person work early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Key Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Support executive level staff in implementing annual campaign plans.

  • Manage fundraising database (NeonCRM), which includes the following tasks:

  • Process all contributions in fundraising database.

  • Generate donor giving, stewardship, engagement, pipeline, and mailing reports.

  • Track correspondence and stewardship efforts between staff and external stakeholders.

  • Generate accurate and timely acknowledgement letters/tax receipts (both manually and electronically) for all donations.

  • Partner with the chief development officer and marketing team to assist with fundraising appeals and campaigns.

  • Manage Corporate Sponsorship and Giving Circle Perks programs and assist where needed with Membership Perks program.

  • Oversee planning of several year-round stewardship events and meetings to cultivate prospective and existing stakeholders and build a more engaged community of donors.

  • Play a key role in preparing and supporting staff members for successful donor meetings including preparing solicitation materials such as briefing memos, letters of inquiry, funding requests, presentation pieces, and other materials as needed.

  • Use creativity and initiative to develop new cultivation and giving strategies and ideas.

  • Other duties and special projects, as assigned.

While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and to use hands and arms to operate a computer and answer phones. The employee needs to regularly use senses of sight and hearing. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and assist in the set up and break down for events.

Salary and Benefits:

$50,000-$55,000. The JCA offers a competitive benefits package that includes generous programmatic discounts, 11 Federal Holidays and up to 10 Jewish holidays off each year, employer-provided Dental Insurance and Long-and Short-term disability coverage, as well as 90% of individual health insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan.

Experience You Bring to the Job:

  • 1+ year of administrative experience, preferably within the nonprofit field.

  • CRM experience (preferably NeonCRM) and PC literacy with strong competency in all Microsoft Office Suite programs. Adobe Creative Suite experience a plus.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidential information.

  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; have outstanding organizational abilities and keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate confidently and professionally with colleagues, donors, lay leaders, prospects, and vendors.

  • Friendly and flexible team player with a willingness to pitch in on projects and tasks.

  • Familiarity with the Jewish lifecycle, holidays and traditions preferred.

Salary:

$50,000-$55,000

The Jewish Community Alliance is a 20,000-square-foot facility built in 2017. With hundreds of members and thousands of clients and visitors each year, the J is open to all in Southern Maine. We offer a robust schedule of events ranging from Arts & Culture to Wellness to Children & Family. Our preschool serves children from six weeks to pre-K. Additionally, we offer after-school care for elementary-aged children and serve over 300 campers per summer at Center Day Camp in Windham. As a Jewish Federation, we raise and distribute funds to support our community locally, in Israel, and around the world. Through Jewish Family Services, we run a Diaper bank and operate as a HIAS affiliate, welcoming and resettling over 150 refugees per year.
