Overview

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is the nation's most effective environmental action organization. Position Summary

NRDC is seeking a Development Assistant in our SF Office. This position provides administrative support to our expanding major gifts and gift planning team in the Bay Area (4 staff).

Job duties will be primarily administrative and will include preparing letters, general correspondence and donor briefings; creating and maintaining donor and income tracking systems; researching donor prospects and current donors; maintaining major gifts databases, scheduling, recording, and gathering materials for meetings; processing expenses and invoices, and other tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Calendar management for supervisors, schedule meetings, and prepare meeting materials

  • Assist with event planning tasks

  • Assist with drafting, editing and proofing correspondence to donors

  • Record meetings and distribute meeting minutes to ensure that action items are kept on track

  • Conduct research on prospective and existing donors and develop short, written summaries

  • Prepare general background materials for briefings

  • Prepare expense reports and process invoices

  • Handle travel arrangements for supervisors

  • Coordinate catering, AV equipment, and other logistics for conferences/meetings

  • General administrative tasks such as filing, mailing, printing, copying and distributing documents

  • Limited travel may be required

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BA or equivalent relevant work experience strongly preferred

  • Experience and comfort working with high profile individuals

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills

  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Ability to work accurately and with composure under deadline pressure

  • Self-directed, with the ability to prioritize and simultaneously work on multiple projects

  • Knowledge of Salesforce and Great Plains a plus

  • Experience working in the non-profit sector preferred

  • Interest in environmental issues a plus, excellent sense a humor a must

VIEW JOBS 10/14/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-01-12T00:00 Job Description The Donor Relations Officer (DRO) serves on the JDRF Greater Bay Area Chapter Executive Team, working in partnership with staff and volunteer leadership to close annual cumulative major giving in the seven figure range. In doing so, the DRO will develop and manage a portfolio that ultimately provides a 3:1 ratio of opportunities to budgeted desired outcomes. In addition, this position is responsible for a variety of comprehensive development functions that correspond to the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of (primarily) individual prospects and donors. Emphasis is on the continuing development of the major and leadership giving pipeline, aligning philanthropic desires of the individuals served with the organizational offerings that meet their needs. The DRO is an experienced fundraising professional with a track record of success in donor development, donor stewardship, and closing major, principal and transformational gifts. Specifically, the Donor Relations Officer is accountable for the following: * Partner with Chapter leadership (staff and volunteer) to create deeper relationships with high-giving-capacity constituents * Generate new revenue, with an emphasis on 6 and 7 figure gifts across all revenue sources * Work to ensure ongoing major gift revenue growth with strategic focus on retaining and upgrading existing donors while building a robust pipeline of prospects * Work with Chapter Executive staff team and Board Executive Committee and Leadership Giving Committee to develop and implement strategic transformational giving fundraising plans for the Greater Bay Area Chapter * Plan annual calendar of leadership giving dinners and receptions, providing meaningful content for existing donors and prospects * Engage CEO, National Executive Team, and National Volunteer Leadership as appropriate. * Partner with GBA Chapter Board Leadership Giving Chair to build an engaged and active community while expanding LG pipeline, cultivation, solicitations and stewardship * Obtain and maintain current knowledge of JDRF's research priorities and activities and assure that the impact of this research on those living with type 1 diabetes and their families is skillfully and credibly communicated to donors and prospects * Work with national to assure awareness of initiatives and relevant experiences that could be of impact to the chapter * Build and maintain a personal portfolio of 60-100 prospects, and serve as the "moves manager" across all revenue streams * Support social event staff and volunteers to achieve early lead FAC gift commitments * Consistently recognize gifts in ways that are meaningful to donors * Model a donor-centric culture by supporting, mentoring and encouraging staff to think beyond individual events and annual budgets, and consider long-term, strategic, donor-driven giving * Accurately and timely record all donor activities in Salesforce * Engage in regular in-person visits, calls, and written correspondence with current donors and prospects; Actively make solicitations * Ensure that all major donors, regardless of revenue channel, have a high quality, increasingly personalized experience with JDRF * Attend Chapter Board meetings and Chapter events where leadership giving donors and prospects are in attendance * Significantly Increase the number of donors in the Planned Giving program Juvenile Diabetes Research Founndation San Francisco CA
