Join the leader in entertainment innovation and help us design the future. At Dolby, science meets art, and high tech means more than computer code. As a member of the Dolby team, you'll see and hear the results of your work everywhere, from movie theaters to smartphones. We continue to revolutionize how people create, deliver, and enjoy entertainment worldwide. To do that, we need the absolute best talent. We're big enough to give you all the resources you need, and small enough so you can make a real difference and earn recognition for your work. We offer a collegial culture, challenging projects, and excellent compensation and benefits.
Developer Relations Evangelist
As a Developer Relations Evangelist for Dolby's Cloud Media Services program, your job is to inspire and equip developers to change the way the world thinks about how amazing Sight, Sound and Communications technology can transform their media-powered application and services.
Your role is to find these developers and build a rich and highly valued community around our Cloud Media Services offering. You know the concerns, interests, demographics, and cultures of developers, and you have creative ideas around how we can connect deeply and effectively with them.
As a key member of our small and dynamic launch team for Dolby APIs, you will be the primary face and voice of our global developer community. We need to know what they think, and it's your job to tell us so we can build the products that deliver the value they want. You'll capture this by writing up the user stories, use cases, and solution briefs.
This means you're essential in driving the shape of Dolby's APIs, including developer SDKs, the developer portal, API documentation and customer support.
You will work cross-functionally with other product and technology teams, spanning Engineering and Research across all of Dolby. We want you take our innovative ideas to the community, from Experimental concepts straight out of Research, all the way to what it takes to have a scalable API or microservice with the reliability and economics required for mission critical production applications.
You will use and create open source projects, demo code and applications so developers can adopt the company's offerings quickly and confidently.
You'll be the face of the company telling our story in the developer community, most likely on stage at events, leading webcasts, participating in panels, and in person with our largest customers. If you're comfortable working with a command prompt in front of a hundred developers, then read on.
You are an engaging communicator, passionate about technology, and love interacting with technical audience one-to-one or as a group. You know the truth that a great presenter is impressive, but an excellent listener who is curious about their audience is truly powerful.
You'll bring all of this learning together by creating attention-getting yet informative posts in social networks and blog and video content to attract and grow interest as our community grows. You will find ways to highlight and celebrate our customer's successes with Dolby.
Your community of developers is global, so you'll be happy to travel 4-5 times a year to major events, taking a leading role in what's happening on the ground.
A Dolby Developer Relations Evangelist should enjoy technology and people! Some specific qualities we are looking for are:
Innate curiosity and a desire to grow from within a small, highly focused team.
Experience building and engaging developer communities.
Strong presentation and written communication skills.
Active developer and can write code that others can understand and use.
Can design demo apps that show Dolby technologies in a compelling context.
Track record of pursuing self-directed projects, research, or open source.
Has built a visible presence in social media forums, GitHub repos or the like.
Can demonstrate ways they are community minded.
Experience as a current or former developer of mobile or web apps.
Comfortable with and able to code demos in Go, Python, NodeJs, C and C++.
Can confidently moderate discussions among technical and non-technical groups.
A keen interest in trying their hand at the business side, with potential aspirations for marketing, business development, sales, or product leadership roles in the future.
Friendly and approachable people do well as the teachers and mentors we're looking for.
