The Information Technology Group of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Developer Database Administrator who enjoys working for an organization that strives every day to support the public good and make a difference.

This position is located in the NAIC's state-of-the-art offices in Town Pavilion in the heart of downtown Kansas City which includes great restaurants, and top-notch entertainment venues.

Responsibilities include:

We are transitioning to the cloud and doing so in the best way! We are looking for someone to contribute and do tasks like

  • Supports all security and audit compliance requirements for the infrastructure.

  • Implements application/script design by utilizing development languages and tools.

  • Ensures the code is scalable and meets performance requirements for assigned projects through performance tuning.

  • On a rotation basis provides 24 x 7 on-call support with provided pager.

  • Supports routine maintenance of databases in maintenance windows. Maintenance includes table re-organization, chained-row repair and other maintenance.

  • Supports the Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes used by the enterprise. Support includes: Mapping design and troubleshooting, workflow runtime and troubleshooting, ETL connectivity support, ETL administrative support (e.g., manage folders, manage security) and ETL software upgrades and patches.

  • Develops applications based on their evaluation of business and technical requirements.

Minimum Education and/or experience required:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, or related experience; and three or more years related database experience. Oracle 11gR2 or above preferred.


  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools.

  • Linux knowledge.

  • Must be able to code, understand basic programming logic and development issues specializing in one language.

  • Experience with the following scripting languages: Python, Perl, Bash, PowerShell, JavaScript, SQL, PL/SQL, TSQL.

  • Experience with Oracle Database Products 11gR2 or higher.

  • Possess excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Must be able to carry a pager and react to pages received on a rotation basis.

PRIMARY FUNCTION Criterion Systems, Inc. is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator. The objective is to hire a DBA capable of administration, installation, maintenance, securing, and deletion of database products, including but not limited to COTS products. The successful employee will provide systems database administration support in a variety of areas including but not limited to the following: monitoring, analyzing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, encrypting, and tuning Oracle database products including integration with tools or other software within the database product suite. Job Responsibilities: * Provide full system database administration support for its managed hosting and platform-as-a-service to customers. Our customer generally performs application administration; * Provide customer with assistance and/or guidance on hardware and software configuration and support. * Installation of the database software. * Monitoring, analysis and tuning of the instance and/or database for maximum performance. * Granting and/or revoking of privileges required to create and maintain the tables, indexes and other structures needed to store the customer's data to a select group of personnel designated by the customer. * Recover the instance and/or database in case of a disaster scenario or a disaster test scenario. * Binding of application software packages. * Create preparation scripts for RAC deployments. * Pre-Install testing and problem resolution for RAC deployments. * Advanced knowledge of Oracle Multitenant architecture. * Knowledge of Oracle APEX and WebLogic support. * Advanced knowledge of Oracle database cross platform migration. * Customize, optimize, and patch Oracle databases and application. * Secure and harden Oracle databases. * Able to provide advanced shell scripting on Unix platform. * Proficient in creating functions, procedures, and packages. * Strong experience with Oracle engineered systems notably SuperCluster and Exadata. * Advance experience with OEM 13c cloud options including chargeback. * Assist development team with new release deployments. * Install, configure and maintain Oracle cluster environment. * Configure and maintain SAN devices using Oracle Automatic Storage Manager (ASM).
