Detention Officer

Department Court Services Title Detention Officer Listed On 1/10/2023 Listed Until 9/30/2024 The Sangamon County Court Services Department is accepting applications for full-time positions for Detention Officer at the Sangamon County Juvenile Detention Center until filled. The shift openings are unknown at this time, but you must have the ability to work any day/shift needed.

Responsibilities Under direct supervision, is responsible for performing intake services, custody services, and helping to plan, implement, and evaluate programming on his/her respective shift. Requirements You must have obtained a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with major course work in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, social work, or related social sciences. Must be on the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts hiring eligibility list at the time of employment offer.

Must be a U.S. Citizen and have a valid driver's license. Must pass a criminal and DCFS background check as well as a drug screening.

YOU MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO WORK ON ANY SHIFT. Skills Ability and desire to work with delinquent youth in a secure detention setting which may require physical restraint of minors; knowledge of the criminal justice system. Benefits Annual salary of $47,117.00; health, dental, and life insurance; pension plan; deferred compensation option; paid vacation, sick and personal time.
