Under limited supervision performs work of moderate difficulty in the construction, maintenance, and repair of County Jail facilities; performs related work as assigned.

Typical Duties
(Illustrative Only)
Installs, maintains, repairs, and performs system checks on facility sub-systems
Operates a variety of tools and equipment
Performs inspections according to departmental schedule and recommends repairs, upgrades, and/or replacements
Prepares and maintains records and reports
May assist with facility projects and purchasing
Ensures that facilities are adequately maintained to meet users' needs
May act as lead worker
Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: driving; working with and around other employees; vision acuity (near & far) to perform daily work tasks; hearing and speech for communicating with co-workers about work directives; finger dexterity for threading nuts and bolts; environmental factors include working outside in all weather conditions, also dealing with noise and vibration being in a vehicle.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of general construction and maintenance experience, including two years of experience in commercial/industrial setting; or any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report. Must submit to a background investigation and successfully pass a polygraph examination.
Preferred Qualifications:Maintenance and HVAC experience, along with electrical and construction experience in a commercial setting.
This position is non-exempt from overtime.
This position is safety sensitive.

Prepare and maintain records and reports
Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public
Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers' service specifications
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
