Responsible for maintaining shop drawings quality between internal and external customers including gathering all necessary information required to complete projects on schedule and within budget.

Education or Equivalent:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Skills/Abilities Needed:
1.Organized
2.EIT, PM, Detailer experience are desired, not required.
3.Must be flexible in a fast paced, ever changing work environment with multiple customers and deadlines.
4.Spatial visualization ability is required.


Nature & Scope-Principal Areas of

Responsibilities:
Other duties may be assigned.
  • Checking (E-drawings vs contract drawings vs KP Standards)

  • Checking (Master Tickets, shop tickets, material lists vs E-drawings)

  • Interferences, BOM, Standards, dimensions, conformance with contract documents. E-drawings & shop tickets.

  • Last minute changes to shop tickets, redlines, Plant Bulletins, field bulletins, as needed.

  • Filing. Creating complete up-to-date sets of drawings, tickets, etc.

  • Acts as drawing coordinator by providing oversight and review of drawings produced by outside consultants. Reviews shop drawings, piece tickets, and fabrication materials for compliance to KP production and drawing standards.

  • Responsible for tracking all shop drawing related paperwork/electronic files and correspondence including revisions to shop drawings, piece tickets RFI's, DR's, Plant Bulletins, Field Bulletins, and Amendments to contract documents, etc. Maintains an electronic log of contract documents.

  • Read and interpret contract documents including A/E drawings and specifications for incorporation into KP erection drawings and has ability to resolve "drawing type" questions and simple engineering questions.

  • Must have the knowledge of standards related to and an ability to perform the following as needed:
    o Detail precast products accurately, completely, and clearly for approval, fabrication, and erection, on time and within budget.
    o Draw erection and detail drawings for precast plank projects ranging in size from small to large commercial with degree of difficulty from easy to very difficult.
    o Develop erection drawings and piece tickets for a variety of precast pre-stressed concrete products (beams, columns, double tees, stairs, stadia, plank, walls, etc.) for multiple project types ranging in size from small to large with degree of difficulty easy to very difficult.
    o Draw design build projects which require flexibility, schedule driven focus, information coordination, and developing drawings on their own.

  • Provides leadership in drawing and detailing a large project requiring a team approach to drawing. Reviews and redlines other external details work.

  • Work with internal detailing group to maintain and improve KP standards. Assists in training external detailers on KP standard practices.

  • Problem solves with engineering.

  • Utilizes knowledge of various basic engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.

  • At least once per month this position will be required to walk through the plant and yard and visit job sites to view the product and process of precast concrete manufacturing, yarding/shipping and erection.

  • Must adhere to all company and MiOSHA safety rules.

  • Must work within the attendance policy guidelines.
