Summary:

The Desktop Technician VI will provide desktop support for users and manage the resolution of each incident or problem ticket entered into the Helpdesk call center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide desktop computer support for general office software, specialized software, educational software, and software used by any of the supported bureaus.

  • Follow all software installation procedures as developed by the Government.

  • Provide support for hardware installation and configuration to include desktop computers, laptops, table devices, smartphones, tablets, printers, scanners, network routers, switches, servers, uninterruptible power supplies, private branch exchange devices, interactive white boards, LCD projectors, monitors, evolving devices, etc.

  • Common trouble tickets include the following: add user to network printer, assist user in mapping to a shared network drive, install approved software, install computer for new employee, install failed hard drive, image spare hard drives, etc.

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of computer components and equipment and software assigned by the government.

  • Participate in User Support conference calls in support of training and new IT requirements.

  • Lead desktop support team.

Non-Essential Duties:

  • Other duties as assigned to support the needs of the customer/client.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managerial duties, to include reviewing and approving timecards.

Minimum Qualifications:
(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Associates Degree or combination of education and experience.

  • 7 years of related technical experience in supporting desktop computers, laptop computers, mobile devices, printers, scanners, local area networks, servers and network switches. Support would include (but not limited to): installing and troubleshooting hardware and software.

  • Managerial experience with 10 staff.

  • Experience serving as SME for information technology projects.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Expert ability to support Microsoft operating systems.

  • Expert working knowledge of general office software such Microsoft Office and Google mail.

  • Ability to support specialized software such as GIS and AutoCAD and software unique to Indian Affairs.

  • Ability to develop project management documentation.

  • Ability to work without guidance.

  • Ability to manage and initiate projects.

  • Ability to obtain an IA driver's license which will allow operation of a government vehicle

  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays

  • Ability to travel

We are seeking a Desktop Technician VI to join our Ohana. This position will be located in Albuquerque, NM. BASIC FUNCTIONS: The contractor shall provide TIER II desktop support to DOI/IA customers. Common trouble tickets include, but are not limited to the following: add user to network printer, assist user in mapping network drives, install approved software and hardware, image and install computer for new employee, replace failed computer components, install and configure business application client software, assist user in logging onto domain and application accounts, train users in replacing plotter/printer ink and toner cartridges, train user on email & collaboration tools and other basic software/application use, assist users in setting up LCD projectors for office presentations. Additionally, TIER II support staff assist TIER III support in troubleshooting higher level issues including Server or network switching, as well as lifting equipment weighing from 50 to up to 75 pounds to install servers and network switches in equipment racks. TIER II staff are also responsible for maintaining a neat and orderly cable plant as well as ensuring physical security policies are followed for server rooms, etc. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: * Accurate inventory of computer components and equipment assigned. * Must complete all required work ticket and knowledge base information as thorough and complete as required. Monitor all technicians for completeness and value of the information provided in the work tickets. * Provide monthly reports to the Federal Functional/Task Lead and COR by the 10th day of each month showing completeness % of data by technician, region and overall. * Responsible for providing customer service and this will be measured by customer and Federal Functional/Task Lead feedback. Provide by the 10th day of each month to the Federal Functional/Task Lead and COR customer satisfaction survey results by technician, region and overall showing customer satisfaction survey results. * Trip reports within 5 business days of the end of travel. * Report Security and PII Incidents within 5 minutes of their occurrence to the CIRT, Federal Functional/Task Lead and COR unless one of these individuals are involved. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Associates Degree or combination of education and experience Experience Required: A minimum of 5 years of related technical and some managerial experience in supporting desktop computers, laptop computers, mobile devices, printers, scanners, local area networks, servers and network switches.
