Robert Half Technology is hiring for a Desktop Support Technician to work in Baltimore on a contract to full time position. Please apply by emailing your resume to .

  • Provides technical support and guidance to users, including covering the help desk as needed.

  • Provide knowledge transfer to the customers

  • Support existing systems and migration to standard architecture.

  • Travel to office locations to provide support during software conversions or other technical changes.

  • Provide regular status reports on tasks accomplished, current issues and progress toward goals.

  • Develop and report on KPIs jointly developed with the IT Services Director.

  • Installation, configuration and maintenance of workstations:

  • Insures workstation and server environment is updated with latest Microsoft patches, anti-virus and 3rd part patching as needed.

  • Insures network, hardware and software documentation is maintained and kept up to date.

  • Provide training and demonstrations as needed.

  • Provisioning of computer equipment including ordering and asset tracking.

  • Assist in the development of internal training tools in addition to providing direct training to employees on software programs, as needed.

  • Participate in various committees and projects as needed.

  • Respond to on-call emergencies on nights and weekends.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

2 year degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field

  • Strong knowledge of routing, switching, wireless and related equipment

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment

  • Knowledge of current technology, industry concepts, trends and directions

  • Four or more years managing Microsoft Windows environments in a LAN/WAN environment.

  • Experience with the following technologies is preferred:

  • Microsoft Server OS, Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, Terminal Server (RDP) and other server management tools.

  • Microsoft OS Win7 and newer

  • SharePoint

  • Imaging software used to build client workstations

  • VoIP

  • Scripting/PowerShell

  • Mac software and hardware support

  • Computer hardware (installations and upgrades)

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with and support non-technical users
