Desktop Support Specialist II
Installs, modifies and makes repairs to personal computer hardware and software systems, and provides technical troubleshooting and support to system users. Leads projects as assigned by manager. Assists in training and mentoring new hires.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assists in training and mentoring new hires, insuring that policies and procedures are followed.
Create, publish, and maintain documents for portions of the Knowledge Base
Leads projects through to completion and full documentation.
Manages end user systems at an enterprise level.
Trains other team members on new technologies.
Installs desktop, laptop and terminal hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers and disk drives
Loads appropriate software packages such as Microsoft operating systems, networking components and Microsoft office applications
Provides telephone, in-person and remote online support to end-users
Provides updates, status and completion information to manager and/or users, via email or in-person communication
Enters support info into, and works tickets out of, the Service Now ticketing system
Instructs and trains end users in proper use of equipment and software
Answers end users' inquiries; diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems
Recommends or performs remedial actions to correct problems based on knowledge of systems operation
Responsible for inventory of PC assets
Special projects as assigned
Regular attendance is required for this position
Other duties as assigned
Associate Degree or equivalent work experience
At least 2 years of experience with end user hardware and software setup and configuration
Ability to lift and handle up to 45 pounds of materials, bend, stoop and stretch as required for placement and retrieval of material or equipment on shelving
Well organized with good time management skills
Work overtime as required
