Job Description Summary:
The Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) is responsible for leading the university's alumni and fundraising efforts. DAR seeks to promote a culture of philanthropy throughout the university community, including alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, corporations and foundations, patients and other friends. Our goal is to advance GW's mission of excellence in education, research, scholarship, and patient care.
DAR is looking for a Desktop Support Associate to provide technical assistance to various clients within the division. The person in this role will help install, upgrade, and troubleshoot hardware and software systems. This position also maintains records of service requests, an inventory of hardware, and assists with the onboarding/off boarding of new staff members. Support Specialist interacts with clients in a variety of mediums (such as, not limited to): email, phone/VOIP, instant message, and remote assistance. Specialist will occasionally interact with other departments at GW, such as the Division of IT.
Troubleshooting and resolving issues reported by colleagues in the Division of Alumni Relations in a timely manner.
Field all incoming help requests (email, phone, text, IM, in person).
Provide assistance with conference room equipment.
On-board and off-board new Development and Alumni Relations staff members.
Maintain record of all the reported issues and their resolutions in a database.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Bachelor's degree preferred in information technology, information management/systems, or in a related field
Relevant work experience
Previous experience in a university or other higher education environment.
Previous experience supporting computers in an office environment.
Excellent communication, customer service, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Knowledge and familiarity with Windows operating systems and common tasks associated with them.
Experience with and exposure to a variety of commercial and educational productivity applications, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite applications, Unified Communications, and Cisco VPNs.
