What you get to do every single day

  • Interact regularly and effectively with ticket submitters

  • Provide support on a variety of computer hardware and software issues by identifying, researching, and resolving technical problems

  • Offer computer desktop support in accordance with established policies and procedures

  • Maintain records of daily data communication transactions, issues and remedial actions taken or installation activities

  • Rectify computer problems, and suggest appropriate action/solutions

  • Arrange hardware repairs with the appropriate vendors

  • Maintain, analyze, and fix computer systems, hardware, printers, and computer peripherals

Job Requirements

  • Knowledgeable when it comes to writing reports, business correspondence, user instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Microsoft Windows experience desired

  • Mac OS X experience highly desired

  • Proficiency in Mac OS

  • Foundational knowledge in PC desktop/workstations

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office

  • 2+ years of desktop support or other related experience

Performs systems analyst activities and makes recommendations in areas that require a high level of technical competency. Additionally, this individual provides technical direction and supervision to analyst staff in the development and implementation of systems and in problem solving. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned. 1.Performs analysis and makes recommendations in areas that require a high level of technical competency. 2.Provides technical training, guidance, and resource support for departmental staff, and end users. 3.Provides application support and enhancements to existing applications. Defines system requirements, priorities, and viable alternatives. 4.Coordinates efforts of staff to locate, assess, install, test, and maintain computer software systems. 5.Coordinates conversions and upgrades of systems. 6.Performs as a project lead and provides leadership and coordination on projects. 7.Assists in developing user documentation, and departmental policies and procedures that impact the use of application systems. 8.Continues to develop professional skills in the information systems through various training and staff development events. 9.Assist in training other staff. 10.Aid in the creation and maintenance of computer images. 11.Aid in the monitoring of Help Desk support tickets to ensure all user requests are resolved in a timely and efficient manner. 12.Provide limited support for mobile operating systems (Android, iOS, Windows Phone, etc.). 13.Manage on-campus computer labs and instructional equipment including hardware/software installation and support, troubleshooting, recommending new purchases, and optimization to best suit individual course needs. 14.Provide support for Apple MAC OS X computers including imaging/deployment, software installation, training, and troubleshooting. Supervisory Responsibilities This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to part-time Student Workers, in order to complete office work assignments. Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Ability to exercise independent judgment in planning, organizing, and performing systems analyst tasks. Some independent judgment required in setting priorities of tasks among multiple assigned projects. Ability to communicate, motivate, and organize projects among a broad spectrum of personnel throughout the Helpdesk, frequently under deadline pressure. Ability to continually analyze, prioritize and complete assigned tasks within designated resource constraints in a fast paced, team-oriented environment. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to clearly communicate technical information to a non-technical audience. Strong knowledge of computer architecture and troubleshooting methods. Experience with a wide range of computer systems software, applications, hardware, networking and communications. Ability to plan, develop and coordinate multiple projects. Strong organizational skills and detail oriented. Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures. Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns. Ability to rapidly assimilate new information and techniques. Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Information Technology, or field; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Related certifications, such as Microsoft, A+, etc. are desirable. Minimum of five years' experience in systems analysis and/or programming required with project management or leadership responsibilities.
