Summary: Emerging IT professional within the Desktop Engineering family developing and applying technical expertise in one or more IT disciplines that support Cook Children's technical infrastructure.

Jobs in this family are responsible for developing, testing, maintaining, installing, and/or deploying technologies. In addition, they are responsible for the establishment, development, and promotion of standard architectures, as well as hardware and software components. This role provides consulting services to application development teams and/or customers regarding technologies and the application of specific technology standards.

Disciplines for this job description include: Supporting desktop and laptop Windows based operating systems, computer hardware troubleshooting, application monitoring and support, system based monitoring utilizing respective enterprise level monitoring tools, Microsoft Office and Exchange troubleshooting, active directory group policy and security troubleshooting, system imaging utilizing enterprise level tools, network and telecommunications tier-1 level troubleshooting.

Qualifications:

  • Position requires at least 3 years of direct experience and a high school diploma or equivalent OR an Associate's Degree in IS and at least 2 years of direct experience.
  • BA/BS degree in IS or Business preferred.
  • A+ certification is preferred.

VIEW JOBS 1/27/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-27T00:00 The Desktop Engineer is responsible for the design, configuration, installation and management of the desktop environment. This includes software packaging, configuration management, imaging, patch management and new technologies for the End-User Computing environment. This position will develop, execute and monitor desktop operations across the Company including the development of computing policies, standards and procedures. May perform enterprise level 3 end point support as needed. ACCOUNTABILITIES * Designs, configures, installs and manages the desktop environment. * Administer and configure Ivanti Landesk Enterprise platform, IBM Maas360 and iGel environments * Create and deploy software packages, task sequences, OSDs, and patch management for deployment through Landesk * Perform desktop deployment automation architecture, design/migration and troubleshooting. * Maintain, test and deploy OS images. * Create reports in Landesk utilizing PowerShell and SQL for automation, asset management and custom reporting * Manage Office 2016 and Office 365 desktop components * Manage Mobile Device configuration policies and practices * Create policies to deploy and manage mobile device app configuration and app catalog * Provides technical expertise, guidance and strategic recommendations to other IT groups regarding desktop software configuration, deployment, and imaging issues. * Develop computing policies, standards and procedures for desktop and laptop hardware/software * Develop and maintain desktop Group Policy * Provide expertise in complex software configuration for common and specialized software * Perform Level 3 desktop support as needed EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED required. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred. 5 to 7 years related experience required. Previous enterprise experience in deploying and managing desktop is required. 2+ years of infrastructure systems administration and 5+ years Windows desktop administration preferred. SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS * Very strong Landesk or similar system management tool for OS deployment, imaging, package creation/distribution and patching skills * Strong IBM Maas360 or similar Mobile Device Management tool skills * Very strong Windows 7 and 10 knowledge * Very strong PowerShell scripting * Very strong Group policy management (GPOs) * Strong Office 2016 and Office 365 skills * Working knowledge of thin client management such WYSE or iGel * Possesses strong analytical and problem solving skills. * Possesses organizational skills and multitasking ability. * Possesses strong attention to detail. * Ability to analyze the impact of decisions before execution. * Possesses interpersonal skills.
