Desktop Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Desktop Engineer for a contract position with a client located near Mentor, OH. The candidate must be skilled in many areas of the desktop computing platforms from designing, configuring, installing, monitoring, and maintaining desktop software, hardware, peripherals and other Endpoint devices and services (i.e., mobile phones, printers, tablets, etc.). Evaluates, tests, and implements new desktop computing technology. The candidate will also implement and maintain automated software delivery solutions and computer imaging and be responsible for documenting solutions to problems and developing end-user guidelines.

Responsibilities:

End User Administration & Support

• Support and manage user accounts (network, computer, email) and group memberships.

• Create, maintain, and support network printers, file access, group mailboxes, network and desktop security.

• Create and maintain exchange mailboxes, distribution list and public folders.

• Secure and manage endpoints through Intune and SCCM.

• Provides technical support to the Service Desk & Desktop team.

• Works with vendors and IT Departments to resolve application and hardware issues.

• Perform advanced error detection / troubleshooting - escalate to senior staff if assistance is needed.

• Develop and utilize procedures to document problems, recommend constructive improvements to procedures, and ensure updated procedures are written and followed.

• Provides computer support for facility and remote users globally.

• Monitors and responds to ticketing system assignments via phone and in person.

• Perform 3rd level support while identifying root causes and strategic solutions to problems.

• Provide education and guidance to users on endpoint hardware/software.

• Participates in on-call rotation of Service Desk after-hours/weekend support for urgent and escalated issues.

Desktop System Design and Build

• Collaborates with teams to understand requirements.

• Designs, configures, and implements desktop hardware and software solutions.

• Evaluates and recommends software and hardware solutions.

• Works with vendor support on endpoint hardware/software issues.

• Develops and implements technologies including but not limited to, imaging services, endpoint security, backup solutions and process automation.

• Creates and maintains process/procedure documents as well as documentation for troubleshooting and knowledge base articles for endpoint and other IT issues.

• Stays current with emerging technologies and trends related IT, specifically endpoint/desktop services.

Pay Details: $30.00 to $37.00 per hour
