Basic Function:

Our Designer/Drafter will be responsible for preparing complex drawings which include technical layout, multiple views, detailed drawings, and assembly drawings. The Designer/Drafter will work closely with customers, vendors, and manufacturing to analyze product as to production and material costs and develops designs that can be produced economically to maintain or improve the Company's competitive condition.

Essential Duties:

  • Designs new or special products or modifications on the standard line of equipment in accordance with theoretically established engineering specifications as to size, capacities, performance, and other requirements.

  • Works closely with customers, vendors, and manufacturing to analyze product as to production and material costs and develops designs that can be produced economically to maintain or improve the Company's competitive condition.

  • Prepares complex drawings which include technical layout, multiple views, detailed drawings, and assembly drawings.

  • Understands and uses CAD system variables and executes all required menu or customized changes.

  • Provides customer support on issues relating to system layouts.

  • Possesses thorough and relevant product knowledge.

  • Uses effective interpersonal skills and to effectively interface with others inside and outside the Company is required.

  • All other duties as assigned

Education: 2-3 year degree/certificate in Mechanical Drafting/Design or equivalent. In some cases, equivalent experience may be substituted for education.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years working with mechanical systems and equipment

  • Minimum 5 years industry experience with Autodesk Inventor, Vault

Knowledge/Skills Requirements

  • Possess a very sound working knowledge of mechanics.

  • Knowledge of machining processes, sheet metal fabrication, welding, materials, industrial piping & pressure vessels.

  • Ability to understand the objectives of projects and communicate effectively to complete tasks.

  • Ability to effectively interface with internal and external customers.

  • Ability to work in a normal office and a development lab environment with running equipment.

  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

  • Able to meet deadlines consistently and with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Imaginative and creative.

Internal Contacts: Contacts required as a regular part of daily duties involving work of non-controversial nature.

External Contacts: Contacts required as a regular part of daily duties involving work of non-controversial nature.

Physical Skill and Effort: Contacts, to ascertain needs of other departments, or to make substantial adjustments to working arrangements. Work involves fairly light and simple types of physical exertion.

Working Conditions and Hazards: Normal plant, shop, field or office conditions. From time to time, slightly disagreeable features. Negligible/little or no exposure to hazardous conditions
