Utilize computer-aided design equipment to design components or portions of systems and modify existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Prepare original rough layouts and sketches to present design proposal. Coordinate design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications
Develop and/or mature Engineer's CAD models for evaluation of designs and interfaces, produce detail and assembly drawings, with parts lists, in accordance with ANSI and in house drawing standards using SolidWorks.
Work with other internal departments, and/or representatives of outside organizations. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information or data on matters of moderate importance to the function of the department or which may be of sensitive nature.
Knowledge of Mechanical design principles including materials, finishes, tolerances, fabrication and assembly techniques, and documentation control.
Require limited supervision, manage routine work with general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments.
Ability to resolve most questions and problems, and refer complex questions to Engineers.
Typical Education / Experience
High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience.
Current TS clearance
Solid Works CAD/PDM experience
Familiar with the use of GD&T
