Design Engineer

The Design Engineer participates in product development for Analog/Mixed Signal, Digital or RF applications and is responsible for architecture, transistor level design, and simulation of new product designs. The Design Engineer should possess the skills to innovate, design, simulate and verify circuit performance. Assignments may include:

  • Participation in circuit design, simulation, verification, iteration, and evaluation to meet the performance goals and analysis of circuit layout and lab experiments

  • Master state of the art CAD tools

  • Perform lab evaluation and debug

  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams

  • Participation in customer visits

For positions requiring access to technical data, Analog Devices, Inc. may have to obtain export licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce

  • Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S. Department of State

Analog Devices Inc. is seeking an intelligent and versatile digital system engineer to join our wideband transceiver design group. You will join a team of digital and analog CMOS designers implementing state of the art RF transceiver chips. As a member of the digital team, your focus will be on developing algorithms and hardware implementations targeted to enhance various aspects of analog front-end performance. As a member of a small, focused team, you will have opportunities to be involved with broad aspects of the chip design process, including specification and architecture, algorithm prototyping and evaluation, behavioral modeling and RTL coding, synthesis and timing analysis closure, verification, and device evaluation. Close interaction with fellow digital and analog circuit engineers and firmware/API engineers is expected. The role will include collaboration with design teams at other ADI sites and possibly also with customers, either of which may require occasional travel. Responsibilities * Develop, prototype, and evaluate signal processing algorithms (typically in Matlab) * Map algorithms to hardware and firmware * Design & verification of Verilog RTL * Coding in embedded C * Implement and optimize algorithms on embedded systems in the lab Requirements * BS/MS Computer Engineering or BS/MS Electrical Engineering * 1-8 years experience working with digital systems and hardware including: * Digital signal processing and system prototyping in Matlab * RTL design of datapaths and computation structures * Desired knowledge in: * Embedded DSP programming (C language preferred) * RF communication systems, including 3G/4G/5G physical layers * Programming in C/C++/Java/Perl/Python/assembly languages * CMOS chip design and verification including simulation and physical design * RF Lab techniques for evaluation of silicon (i.e. experience with PXA) * Strong communication skills are required. * Intelligence, enthusiasm, and a solid work ethic are valued more than any particular skill.
