Design Researcher

We're a team of passionate human-centered designers who are defining privacy by design to ensure customers can understand the what, how, and why of their data with easy to use tools. We work closest with our customer data to make ideal customer and associate experiences by translating complex data into something understandable, actionable and empowering in service of building customer trust.

We're looking for a Design Researcher to join the Privacy Design Team to collaborate in setting research strategy, help with research planning and conduct user research, by partnering with Tech and Product to create ultra-powerful, ultra-helpful privacy experiences.

AS A DESIGNER ON THE PRIVACY DESIGN TEAM, YOU WILL:

  • Work with talented designers in a highly collaborative, supportive environment

  • Work as an integrated team with Product, Technology, and Business partners to define and solve problems

  • Use your innate curiosity to challenge assumptions and uncover new insights

  • Proficiency in communicating user research findings with cross functional partners to drive impact

  • Strong understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during the product development process

  • Ability to take research insights and help team ideate on possible solutions, contributing to the product backlog

  • Always be learning, be flexible and deliver amazing quality

  • Participate in all aspects of the design process to frame problems, define insights, create compelling visions

  • Analyze complex problems to solve design challenges using human-centered approaches

  • Use customer research to inform your design thinking and target meaningful solutions

  • Perform design research and create communication tools, such as journey maps, service blueprints, prototypes - whatever tool is right for the task at hand

  • Translate learnings and insights from research to define and participate in UX design work

YOU WILL BRING

  • Experience in UX design and core service design methods and processes

  • Ability and desire to work in all phases of the design process (thinking and making)

  • Depth in at least one practice area (experience strategy, service design, or design research) that sets you apart from the pack

  • A passion for creating new methods and practices

  • A collaborative nature with strong communication skills, sincerity, and a sense of humor in the face of ambiguous design challenges

  • Confidence and pride in your work, skills, experience, and expertise

  • Excellent writer and communicator

  • Prototyping experience

  • Experience working with Agile

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • At least 3 years of experience with Design Research

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree

  • At least 5 years of experience with UI/UX Design

Senior UX Researcher - Identity Services We are looking for a User Experience Researcher to assist in the creation, moderation and analysis of user research for design teams in the Identity Services arm of our design organization, OneDesign! The User Experience Researcher's responsibilities include assistance in creating experiential research designs, collection of data for analysis, coding video for analysis, moderating empathy sessions, and running remote un-moderated studies. Due to the nature of financial services, the research work will likely involve a blend of both qualitative and quantitative research and analysis skills. You will work to improve the usability, usefulness, and desirability of our tools in collaboration with Designers, Product Managers, Software Developers, Marketers, and other Stakeholders. The Identity Services design team at Capital One not only designs and builds consumer experiences, but also creates tools, strategy, and products for external clients; products focused on Identity Verification and Authentication. Responsibilities: * Conduct empathy interviews, quantitative and qualitative user testing and analysis * Keep an overview of all relevant content necessary for usability tasks and organize a library of user research templates and patterns for use by the group and others * Help the team to standardize its approach to empathy interviews, benchmark analysis, and usability testing and facilitate communication with design and product teams * Utilize user observations to assist with the creation of requirements, customer personas, customer stories and use cases * Conduct usability testing and analysis of results * Actively monitor and analyze research, data, and trends from internal sources, academic research, and industry published reports to inform and improve our research methods * Effectively and intelligently influence the iteration of designs by pinpointing key data points from testing, reviews, etc. * Present and communicate research and analysis clearly and effectively across various organizations in any format required.
