Job Summary

The University of Michigan (U-M) is seeking a qualified Design Manager to join a creative, talented and entrepreneurial team within the Office of Academic Innovation (AI) that is shaping the digital learning landscape at U-M and beyond. The Design Manager (DM) position reports to the Design Management Lead, and collaborates with faculty and content experts, learners, administrators, vendors, and other stakeholders. A DM manages the scoping, design, and development of online courses and other learning initiatives at AI to deliver high-quality learning experiences. This position is an exciting role that works to support and launch new digital learning initiatives through collaboration with the world class faculty of the University of Michigan.

Responsibilities* * Develop, maintain and administer training programs available to all faculty, staff, and learners to meet institutional mandatory requirements. * Collaborate with your partners based on training offered to develop courses and exams to fulfill Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements for multiple job classifications. * Work with partners/representatives to support the customization of courses to meet specific requirements while assuring all standards are maintained. * Be the project manager and manage the mandatory training process, including design, production, delivery evaluation budgeting, staffing, and scheduling. * Train department representatives and facilitate user education in program use. * Work with Human Resources Information System (HRIS), Health Information Technology and Services (HITS), Organizational Learning (OL) and vendors to configure and maintain programs, perform back-ups and upgrades, and assure interfaces are correct. * Maintain data, create reports, and monitor system compliance. * Work with the Executive Steering Committee to insure system-wide goals are met. * Report to the Senior Director of HR Strategy and Organizational Effectiveness and as a member of Michigan Medicine HR Auxiliary Leadership and Partners teams, collaborate on departmental operational decisions and assume additional HR responsibilities as assigned. Skills You Have * Analytical skills necessary to evaluate and modify training programs and systems. * Creative thinking; analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities; self-direction; working knowledge of course/program implementation and evaluation, including knowledge of test construction and diverse teaching methods. * Work with SMEs in planning and scoping requirements for curriculum. * Interpersonal, educational and clinical knowledge to work in collaboration with partners, HITS, and outside vendors, faculty, staff and learners to create training programs and educate staff. * The ability to read and comprehend procedures and technical literature in specific functional areas is necessary. * Project management skills including the ability to establish program, or process goals, identify partners and their interests, plan steps, coordinate and allocate human, technological and fiscal resources to accomplish goals. * Familiarity with digital systems including databases and computer/web-based training programs. * Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. * Have a creative approach to learning design that engages target audience in learning. * Have a strong understanding of Learning Management Systems. * Experience creating and producing reports and queries Required Qualifications* * Bachelor's degree in E-Learning, Training and Development, including Instructional Design, Health Care or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Master's Degree in Training/OD and Training, E-Learning Instructional Design, Instructional Design/technology preferred. * Three or more years' healthcare experience and experience with multimedia instructional design including needs analysis, delivery and evaluation. * Two or more years' experience in a leadership role, leading staff and working collaboratively with several teams and experts at all levels. * Teaching experience or experience working with Regulatory Agencies with understanding of job requirements to practice in healthcare is preferred. * Experience working with data management of information systems preferred. * Proven leadership skills to lead a team of professionals, partner with HITS, OL, other departments, and executives' sponsors and others as needed. * Led appropriate teams and committees, managers and staff to develop policy and ensure that the curriculum is supported and delivered.
