Summary

Assists in designs and manages projects in the area of product development with a focus on line extensions with design engineer supervision. Coordinates with all departments to ensure smooth production start up. Provides engineering support for existing products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities may include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Product Design: Design/development of needle-guidance accessories, end product components/assemblies, packaging configurations, labeling & instructions. Utilizes 3D CAD (PTC Creo).

  • Project Management: Scheduling, tracking, and communicating to mentor and design team.

    Coordinating deliverables and design control (DHF) documentation. Implementing entire design cycle requirements.

  • Product Support: Investigate production or process issues and complete drawing or process changes. Support Product Line Management, Marketing and Production staff.

  • Continuous Process Improvement: Evaluate internal process and give process improvement ideas & implementation strategies.

Education and/or Experience

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent degree and actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline such as manufacturing or industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or other related discipline. One to three semesters of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience, desired.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrates design, documentation, materials management and design for manufacturing skills.

  • Demonstrates good communication skills.

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel for spreadsheets, Microsoft Word for word processing and Microsoft Project for creating schedules.

  • Experience with manufacturing processes including injection molding, machining and assembly.

  • Prefer related product and equipment knowledge.

Job Summary This position is concerned with performing a variety of functions in the development, implementation and revision of Manufacturing Engineering processes and procedures. Provides assistance to Industrial Engineering, Test Engineering and Design Engineers. Job Responsibilities * Works closely with engineering and cross functional teams to evaluate ECOs. Generate Run and Holds to incorporate into production. * Excellent understanding of and ability to apply Lean concepts in the manufacturing environment. Capable of implementing Lean concepts with minimal guidance from a Lean Principal or Lean Master resource. Some examples being: generate time studies and establish takt time, define standard work, line balancing, improve work flow, 5S, set visual controls, strategic WIP, create progressive build/rapid flow lines, product transfers, etc. * Provides input to the training and mentoring plans. Teaches and mentors new and less experienced IE Technicians. * Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments. Assignments are often self-initiated. Develops advanced concepts, techniques and standards. Demonstrates a sense of urgency, prudent risk-taking and adaptive response to challenges. * Understands the basic job functions of other team members outside of the IE Technicians. * Works independently without direct supervision. Viewed as a specialist in this function. * Provides technical support, troubleshoots problems, and resolves production issues of advanced scope and complexity. Follows established policies and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Strong knowledge in defining root cause analysis. Interfaces with cross functional teams to resolve technical issues. * Creates and maintains the master route sequences and BOM data in compass. * Interprets engineer drawings/specs. Develops and maintains assembly line work instructions.
