Assists in designs and manages projects in the area of product development with a focus on line extensions with design engineer supervision. Coordinates with all departments to ensure smooth production start up. Provides engineering support for existing products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities may include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Product Design: Design/development of needle-guidance accessories, end product components/assemblies, packaging configurations, labeling & instructions. Utilizes 3D CAD (PTC Creo).

  • Project Management: Scheduling, tracking, and communicating to mentor and design team.

    Coordinating deliverables and design control (DHF) documentation. Implementing entire design cycle requirements.

  • Product Support: Investigate production or process issues and complete drawing or process changes. Support Product Line Management, Marketing and Production staff.

  • Continuous Process Improvement: Evaluate internal process and give process improvement ideas & implementation strategies.

Education and/or Experience

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent degree and actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline such as manufacturing or industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or other related discipline. One to three semesters of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience, desired.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrates design, documentation, materials management and design for manufacturing skills.

  • Demonstrates good communication skills.

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel for spreadsheets, Microsoft Word for word processing and Microsoft Project for creating schedules.

  • Experience with manufacturing processes including injection molding, machining and assembly.

  • Prefer related product and equipment knowledge.

Job Summary Provides technical support to Operations in the form of enabling and improving the flow of manufacturing utilizing the disciplines of industrial and mechanical engineering. Assignments range from straightforward and reactionary in nature to complex and strategic. Uses independent judgment to make decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities the majority of the time under general supervision. Job Responsibilities * Develop and implement advanced processes and SMT methodologies. Perform defect and failure analyses for Surface Mount Technology (SMT). Lead improvements in process yield, quality, cycle time, inventory accuracy and delivery. Lead a team of SMT Machine Operators and Process Technicians. Work in accordance with assembly procedure, in a quick and efficient manner. Report all manufacturing and/or quality problems with parts, equipment, etc. to the Process support and quality team. Provides technical assistance and training support to floor and technicians. Program, maintain and support day to day operations of surface mount assembly equipment Work with design engineering in developing new products that are optimized for the manufacturing process Analyze SMT Mfg processes for cost reduction opportunities. Develop working knowledge of SMT Process machines hardware. Provides technical assistance and support to sub-assembly and top-level testing. Lead continuous improvement teams and implement lean manufacturing processes Support product quality by performing root cause and corrective action Provides technical interpretation of drawings and specifications. Analyze and resolve design tolerance problems. Evaluate, select and order capital SMT equipment when appropriate. Supply cost payback analysis and generate Acquisition Requests when needed. Evaluate Customer Returned Good (CRG) activity to repair and return units in the most efficient manner. Coordinate design changes or design improvements with design Engineering. Provide capacity planning and utilization analysis for accurate staffing and SMT equipment needs.Responsible for technical problem definition and solution in manufacturing environment. Interfaces with design engineering on incorporating changes to the designs which improve manufacturability. * Determines the most efficient sequence of operations and work flow, and establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personne * Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control through the application of Lean principles. * Determines the most efficient sequence of operations and work flow, and establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel. * Prepares cost estimates for proposed projects and evaluates cost factors. * Perform assignments requiring use and application of standard engineering economics and product development principles and techniques. * Assignments usually consist of providing engineering economics support (cost estimates, facilitating achievement of cost requirements/targets) on stand-alone product development efforts. * Plan, execute (facilitate) and document engineering economics challenges. * Maintain awareness of the technological state-of-the-art and of the Company's competitive position in the assigned area. * Understands and considers how facility design and layout for manufacturing processes and equipment affect economic factors, process flow, operator efficiency and comfort in performance of job duties. * Solves IE problems of various levels of complexity. * Analyze and interpret systems requirements and definition data to the extent necessary to proactively apply engineering economics principles. * Individual job duties may vary.
