Job Summary

The Surface Transportation Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Design Engineer

  • Water Resources for immediate employment in the Pittsburgh, PA office.

The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Water Resources, specific to drainage, stormwater management/best management practices, erosion and sediment pollution control, and hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design.

The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the development of roadway alignments, hydraulic and hydrologic analysis, stormwater design, traffic control plans, erosion control plans, right-of-way determination, utility coordination, and environmental permitting utilizing Microstation, AutoCAD and a variety of Civil Engineering design software applications and MS Office applications

  • Assisting with preliminary to final design calculations and plan development, reviewing of field information, possible field inspection of existing facilities and other work consistent with the duties of an entry level engineer

  • General office administration, including report reproduction, collation and deliveries

  • Enthusiastic individuals eager to face new challenges and take on personal responsibilities are best qualified to meet the demands of this work

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Water Resource Engineering or related field

  • Project engineer experience with an emphasis in drainage, stormwater management/best management practices, erosion and sediment control, and hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design

  • Working Knowledge of MircoStation and/or AutoCAD

  • Ability to succeed in fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, and meeting strict deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master Degree in Water Resource Engineering

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred

  • Some experience with civil engineering related software (Civil 3D, Inroads, StormCAD, HydroCAD, Pondpak)

  • Very Familiar with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point)

As the Water Resources Manager, you will work directly with our staff and clients to deliver waterway permitting, erosion and sediment pollution control plans, stormwater management design and highway drainage design. Experience with PennDOT Districts 1, 2, 9, 10, 11 and/or 12, as well as the PA Turnpike, PADEP and other western Pennsylvania agencies is highly desired. The ideal candidate will perform the following: * Manage the Pittsburgh Water Resource group, which involves oversite of technical work, staffing and business development assistance. * Mentor engineers and designers within the group, both locally and throughout the Greater PA area. * Advise project teams on technical issues, perform deliverable quality reviews, assist with annual performance evaluations, support the professional development of junior engineers, assist with reporting project status and responsible to deliver elements of design within the project schedule and budget. * Coordinate interdiscipline design elements with other task leaders and/or group managers. * Lead, prepare or review detailed design deliverables such as calculations, reports, models, permit applications, construction drawings and specifications. * Utilize modeling software applications for efficient design and coordination. * Enhance client relationships as it pertains to our water resource capabilities.
