What You'll Do:

Champion Safety. Assume an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.

Design. Develop structural, pumping & piping and mechanical general arrangement and detail drawings, to include steel and foundation requirements.

Provide required design services to meet project demands. Work with team members to complete detailed fabrication drawings. Develop process flow diagrams. Ensure designs comply fully with the appropriate design codes and applicable local codes.

Coordinate and Collaborate. Coordinate and review engineering services provided by outside parties and internal designers.

Consult with the division's construction services personnel on appropriate construction methods. Work with internal departments and vendors to ensure project success. Effectively communicate across a diverse group of stakeholders.

Manage Projects. Develop project scope and cost estimates.

Develop and manage project schedules and communicate project updates effectively. Assist in securing necessary construction permits. Recommend necessary equipment and materials for each project.

Assist in contractor selection. Review finished work to ensure compliance with project specifications.

Manage Standards. Recommend and develop design and construction standards for the division.

Travel. Less than 20% overnight travel across multiple locations. Typically no more than 2 overnights at any given time.


Skills You'll Need:

Education. BS degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering preferred.

Experience. 5-8 years of experience in mining, heavy industrial or related fields.

License. A PE license is preferred, but not required.

Organizational Skills. Have the ability to organize, prioritize, and execute multiple concurrent tasks.

Problem Solving. Must have the ability to solve complex and varied problems.

Communication Skills. Must have strong written and oral communication skills.

Technical Skills. AutoCAD, 3D modeling, AggFlow, and Microsoft Office or similar is preferred.

We currently have 14 locations, providing distribution into the eastern US as well as the Caribbean markets. Our primary customers turn our products into something special. If you are a self-motivated, highly organized individual that possesses a passion for brand-specific product promotion and specification, our role as an Architectural and Design Specifications Representative covering central and southern Alabama, southern Mississippi and parts of the Florida panhandle is right for you. The primary objective for this position is to manage the architectural and design specification process for our Formica line and other specialty products. You will be responsible for lead generations, customer development and ultimately gaining specifications within the assigned geographic area for the organization. Key Responsibilities * Identify, initiate, build, and maintain relationships with key architects, designers, and product specifiers within the architectural and design community of your geography to increase market share and bolster overall sales volume. * Introduce Hood Distribution's product lines and build brand awareness by making regular face to face calls to existing and new specifiers (to include; Formica laminate and solid surface product lines, functional cabinet hardware lines, decorative melamine, custom architectural molding, custom architectural panels, etc.). * Work independently, cooperatively, and enthusiastically towards the company and team's goals and directives. * Work with the internal sales and marketing team to develop programs for architects and designers. * Service existing as well as targeted accounts with the goal of nurturing relationships and increasing key product specifications, generate sales leads, and serve as technical consultant. * Provide the highest level of customer service and professionalism by generating and managing specifications from product selection through product delivery and job completion. * Set up and maintain client displays and merchandising samples. Implement creative marketing schemes. * Resolve any client concerns and complaints by developing viable and fair solutions. * Monitor competition by gathering current information on pricing, products, and merchandising techniques. * Maintain and increase professional and technical knowledge by reviewing product literature, manuals, and manufacturer bulletins, as well as attending vendor/ manufacturer seminars whenever available. * Analyze client product needs, growth patterns, and market trends. * Multitask and prioritize work through effective time management. * Utilization of CRM and/or alternative documentation to track and report call activity, project tracking, and presentation scheduling. * Schedule and conduct product knowledge/promotion sessions with the A & D community and fabricators when appropriate. Active involvement with all industry related trade shows. * Provide technical assistance and cross training to others across the organization. Required Education and Experience * Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Design, Marketing, Business Administration, or similar discipline. * Background in construction materials preferred. * 3-5 years' experience selling, preferably architecturally specified products * Strong presentation and demonstration skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Additional Information Overnight travel as required.
