Description:The selected candidate will join the Military Space line of business as a member of the Space Protection Programs structures design team, supporting many different efforts ranging from studies, proposals, IRAD efforts, and flight hardware developments.

Designs major components or major portions of a satellite system, or technically advanced protoypes. Develops or improves spacecraft products and facilitates manufacturing operations. Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposals. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development. Makes layouts of assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, structures, and products. Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements.

Participates in issue resolution, developing solutions to technical problems of varying complexity while assuring sound technical content and timely closure. Develops, reviews and maintains engineering drawings, specifications, manufacturing processes, and technical analyses necessary to support spacecraft development and manufacturing activities.

Demonstrates an exceptional work ethic and is knowledgeable across a broad range of topics in the mechanical engineering discipline. Possess good process focus and is able to intelligently apply standard processes to real-world applications. Thorough, with good attention to detail and a solid understanding of documentation methods and requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years of professional experience; or related Masters degree.

  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering design principles

  • Familiarity with CREO or similar mechanical CAD tools for layout, concept definition, design, and drawings of mechanical hardware

  • Knowledge of Mechanical Design principles including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated organizational skills

Desired Skills:

  • Fluency in mechanical 3D modeling methods and practices for components, assemblies, and drawing creation using CREO software

  • Experience in Mechanical Design using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5

  • Experience in model management and engineering drawing release through EPDM

  • Experience developing/leveraging common solutions across programs/products

  • Ability to plan the design, development, and testing of mechanical assemblies

  • Active TS/SCI w/ poly clearance

  • Ability to work within small agile development teams

VIEW JOBS 11/9/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-07T00:00 Description:The Staff Antenna Design Engineer will be responsible leading a small technical team through all stages of the product life cycle including design, fabrication, test, and certification. The candidate will be responsible for performing preliminary and detailed level mechanical design and analysis on antenna components (feed horns, filters, waveguide, reflectors, etc.) and subsystems, as well as performing comprehensive modelling and drafting, using standardized processes and tools (CREO, ePDM). The candidate will be responsible for developing plans and formulating engineering schedules, reviewing product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contracts requirements, and related specifications. The candidate will drive drawing releases and perform/approve design changes. Other related responsibilities include providing technical memos and data packages to support peer and customer reviews; performing technical follow of subcontracts; presenting resultant design and analysis data to Spacecraft Design, Systems Engineering, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical exchange meetings and formal design reviews. The candidate will be responsible for developing test requirements, be required to perform reviews of mechanical test and alignment data, and lead test anomaly investigation and resolution. This position will require close interaction with the antenna electrical designers, analysis leads, manufacturing and test personnel, and program contacts. Basic Qualifications: * BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field or MS * Extensive mechanical flight hardware design experience * Spacecraft antenna design/analysis/test experience * Knowledge of manufacturing processes and documentation including machining, fabrication and assembly * Demonstrated knowledge of other disciplines including stress, dynamics, thermal analysis, production, ATLO, electronics, systems engineering, etc. * Highly proficient with mechanical CAD tools (CREO or equivalent), CM tools (ePDM) and drafting standards * Knowledge of composite structure design and fabrication techniques * Experience with test methods, planning and execution * Demonstrated commitment to development and deployment of productivity improvements and leveraging new technologies * Demonstrated ability to drive hardware procurement and production activities through delivery * Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills Desired Skills: * More than 3 years of experience as a Certified Principle Engineer (CPE) or industry equivalent * Technical leadership experience * Experience using CAD model as record of authority (Data Set Rating 4 and/or 6) * Proposal experience * Ability to perform initial mechanical analyses * Planning and budgeting experience * Additive manufacturing experience BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: job.Qualifications Lockheed Martin is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
