The Engine Division of Kawasaki Motors Corp, headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI has an immediate opening for a Design Engineer based in Grand Rapids, MI.
As a Design Engineer, this role will provide support and assist in the design and development of small engines through analyzing, testing and researching to meet the customer's expectations all while remaining in compliance with company standards.
Responsibilities:
Design components and approve drawings for new and existing engines with consideration for costs, assimilability, end user application and specifications, using resources to ensure performance and function.
Follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes related to engine components, manufacturing, vendor change requests and product improvements.
Conduct analytical studies utilizing and applying standard engineering principles, practices and techniques, research data and requested product specification.
Independently confirm accuracy of design and components.
Compiles and analyzes operational, testing, and research data to establish or verify performance standards.
Adjusts and correlates data, recognizing discrepancies and determining solutions.
Discuss with coworkers on requesting tests to evaluate performance, function, and fitment of engine components.
Assesses the feasibility and soundness of engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment.
Analyzes and determines causes of failures in components and engines to determine a solution and coordinate the implementation of countermeasures.
Develop and maintain project timelines for various items including backup or countermeasure schedules.
Quality Control Analysis - Conducts tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate performance and quality.
Provides improvement ideas and completes training needed to help the group increase productivity and efficiency.
Travel: 10%
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelors' degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required.
5+ years R&D testing or design experience, preferably with engines.
Experienced in CAD; strong Microsoft Excel knowledge.
Ability to problem solve and work in a team environment.
Be able to demonstrate the ability to successfully prioritize and organize multiple tasks.
Extremely detailed and deadline oriented.
Ability to lead and work on multiple projects at the same time.
