Help chart the course to a greener future as part of our dynamic, quickly growing mission-driven team in New York!Civil Engineering Design Engineer II Job DescriptionSherwood is looking for an accomplished Design Engineer who is competent in Civil 3D and CAD and has experience implementing Engineering design packages through Design Development and Construction Drawings. This person should have the ability to think independently, manage assignments and manage teams of people responsible for the delivery of drawing packages. This person will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment, where you may be responsible for multiple parallel assignments. This person must be organized and able to manage multiple assignment effectively and work across offices (Sherwood has offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Atlanta). This assignment may involve working on international projects.   • Work closely with internal project team in the development of Construction Documents for site development
  • Perform site grading analysis and earthwork calculations
  • Perform roadway design
  • Perform drainage design, calculations, and reports
  • Perform utility layout and sizing
  • Ability to coordinate drawings and design with outside consultants not on a 3d platform
  • Development of construction plan sets and providing redlines for drafters
  • Ensure engineering designs are in compliance with current applicable state & local regulations
  • Develop project specifications in CSI format
  • Work with multiple site base files oriented in different coordinate frames and varying units
  • Read, understand, and design topographic data sets
  • Work on projects at an independent level with little to no supervision
  • Develop and implement innovative design techniques to enhance productivity
  • Lead other junior engineers in the development of project deliverables
  • Follow company QA/QC protocols working with CAD management team
  • Deliver project assignments working with additional staff
  • Attend client meetings and project site visits
  • Write technical reports
  • Translate engineering concepts into illustrations, diagrams, drawings, and visual aids
  • Development of planning studies and exhibits
  • Assign tasks to and coordinate with technicians or administrative staff

Computer Skills:
  • Proficient in Hydro CAD, Storm CAD and SWWM (or similar) modeling
  • Proficient in CAD
  • Working knowledge of Windows, MS Office, Google Apps
  • Knowledge of GIS
  • Knowledge of other Civil programs preferred (LDT, Flowmasters etc.)
Job Qualifications:
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read, interpret and collect data documents
  • Maintains confidentiality and security of sensitive company and client information
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems

Skills, Education and Experience:
  • 4 - 10 years of industry experience
  • Bachelors degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program
  • Proficient in assembling and collating plan set packages
  • Construction Documentation experience on Commercial, Institutional, and Residential projects
  • EIT required
  • LEED Certification and/or ENVISION or similar preferred

VIEW JOBS 1/18/2021 12:00:00 AM 2021-04-18T00:00 Duties: Acts as the responsible Electrical Commissioning Engineer on assigned projects and provides overall project planning, coordination, and supervision of construction, commissioning, and testing activities to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. Prepares and monitors complex construction and commissioning schedules to ensure timely completion of the work. Manages and participates on multiple status, safety and human performance conference calls involving Utility Client, Construction, Engineering Design and Commissioning Engineers. Resolves construction problems, procedures, and methods through working with the customer and TRC engineering personnel, inspectors, contractors, and suppliers. Responsible for interpreting/validating relay and apparatus testing results satisfying latest standards, procedures and guidelines. Plans, performs, and documents the commissioning of various control and power circuits to ensure the intended operation and safety of equipment and personnel are met. Maintains familiarity with appropriate engineering and construction codes to ensure compliance with applicable codes. Prepares and implements outage and energization plans as well as detailed commissioning plans. Institutes, directs, and documents changes to the work when required by differing site conditions. Conducts on-site design or investigation work to ensure adequacy of contractor methods. Evaluates contractor procedures, starting and completion times, and staffing requirements for each phase of construction. Assists in the professional development, training, and evaluation of personnel. Maintains familiarity with work rules applicable to various collective bargaining crafts employed on project. Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus 3 years of experience performing electrical distribution engineering and field service engineering. Or, in the alternative: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus 1 year of experience performing electrical distribution engineering and field service engineering. Special Requirements: Candidate must also possess: (1) Demonstrated Expertise (DE) leveraging the latest industry testing and commissioning standards, procedures and guidelines, including IEEE and NETA; (2) DE designing AC and DC schematics, wiring and interconnect drawings, and one-line and three-line diagrams for electrical protection and control systems, including relay communications; (3) DE leveraging medium and high-voltage substation and power plant equipment, performing apparatus testing and interpreting test results; (4) DE testing and commissioning substation utility protection and control circuits; and, (5) DE using voltage and current injection equipment of different brands and models to perform relay and apparatus testing.
