Summary

Responsible for designing and reviewing truss design drawings for the metal plate connected wood truss industry. Individual will also be responsible for designing truss repair details for problems submitted from the component manufacturer. Individual will be accountable to the Chief Engineer for the effective performance of all duties and for the fulfilling of all responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Creatively Design field repairs for truss components in accordance with acceptable engineering principles and judgment.
  • 55%
  • Design truss components based on specified parameters from customers and use their knowledge of engineering and the building codes along with collaboration with other engineers in the office to ensure their designs protect the health safety and welfare of the public.
  • 25%
  • Discusses design modifications and reviews appropriate design methodologies with customers.
  • 5%
  • Assist, train and counsel customers in troubleshooting issues and design problems.
  • 5%
  • Review results of the truss design software for accuracy and collaborate with other engineers and with the software development team to determine how the software should function.
  • 5%
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects and building officials on customer component design projects.
  • 5%

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school): Required

  • Experience: 1 plus years of experience

  • Computer Skills: MS Office suite of products.

  • Other Requirements: College degree in Civil Engineering or other related Engineering field. Strong skills in algebra, trigonometry, physics, statistics and strength of materials is required.
