The Design Engineer l position will support the Mechanical Systems Engineering team through a variety of technically challenging tasks spanning the project lifecycle. This role supports redesigns that improve performance and efficiency, concept designs for cutting edge technologies, and special technical issue investigations. The primary part families are bearing compartment components, lubrication system components, and gearboxes.
The Design Engineer I will report to the Project & Design Management (PDM) Group Lead and will be responsible for supporting key development activities. The Design Engineer I will work closely with the Pratt & Whitney Mechanical Systems CIPT, and takes part in PCIR Engineering Changes, Flight Test EC's, Root Cause Analysis Investigations, completion of design trade studies, tolerance stacks, creation of DFMEA and FMECA's, and engine BOM review & correction, creation & submission of DECX, ADDS file, and CICR's.
Essential Functions Include:
Professionally represent MTU to our customers
Effectively communicate appropriate and useful information to others in a timely manner
Apply design engineering principles and concepts with minimal supervision
Modelling with Unigraphics NX
(GD&T) Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance
Preliminary and detailed design process
Routine analysis using vetted methods and technologies
Create and present work-content in relevant meetings, technical reviews, etc.
Work within an established framework to meet customer needs
Deliver high quality engineering service products that meet or exceed customer expectations
Maximize in-person meeting opportunities with customers and colleagues
Understand capabilities of the organization and identify additional customer needs that can be filled by the organization; bring opportunities to Group Lead or Manager

Requirements for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience
2-6 years of related design engineering experience
Understanding of concepts, methods and procedures within design discipline
Demonstrated technical competence in design discipline
Knowledge of the P&W Engineering Change Process and associated Engineering Standard Work (ESW)
Excellent organization and communication skills
Eligible to work in the United States without Sponsorship
Occasional travel may be required
