This person will report directly to the Manager of Device Engineering, within R&D, and will be responsible for management of SolidWorks files for EyePoint products. Additionally, this individual will support fixture development, device test method development, and execution of R&D testing.
Candidate must have multiple years of SolidWorks experience and a strong understanding of drawing maintenance within quality management systems. Candidate must be able to effectively collaborate with internal Commercial, R&D, Quality, and Operations departments and with external CMO's and design firms.
The role is full-time and is located at the Watertown, MA office and would be required to be on site 4 days a week.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities and projects to be completed include the following:
Manage and maintain SolidWorks files and drawings within EyePoint's electronic quality management system
Revise drawings as directed per change controls or document change requests
Perform tolerance stack up analysis and generate summary reports
Assist cross functional teams in design and development of components and fixtures (modeling and drawing support)
Lead device test method development and execute R&D testing activities
Author technical protocols and reports related to device performance testing
Aid with rapid prototyping activities, such as 3D printing components
Organize and complete R&D device builds to support non-clinical and/or human factors studies
Qualifications
Primary skills and knowledge required include, but are not limited to the following:
Strongly proficient in SolidWorks or similar CAD software and experience managing CAD files using PDM or similar
Experience with tensile testing systems like an Instron, MTS or Texture Analyzer
Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills to collaborate with CDMOs, design agencies, and internal cross functional teams
Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, such as 3D printing and injection molding and experience performing design for manufacturability assessments
Understanding of design controls as defined in 21 CFR 820.30, preferably design control experience related to combination products, ophthalmology experience a plus
Level of Education Required: Bachelors
Preferred Field(s) of Study: Engineering
