Performs machinery design functions related to the processing of customer orders, redesign of Andritz products and product configurations, involving pneumatic, electrical and mechanical technologies. Assists major projects, including field check, design layout, and detailing. Based on product / customer requirements, and as directed by the Engineering Supervisor, conducts design investigations (alternate design approaches, alternative technologies, component redesigns, alternate suppliers, etc.) on assigned projects. Works independently within Andritz design criteria to select and evaluate components, hardware and materials necessary to meet project design requirements.

Prepares accurate and timely computer based engineering drawings, layouts and graphic representations as required. Modifies engineering drawings and updates drawings as required. Investigates and executes Engineering Change Requests / Orders. Prepares machinery spare parts lists, bills-of-material and operations manuals as required.

Works directly with the Production Team to ensure their designs are manufactured accurately and in a timely manner. When needed may need to spend time on the production floor to assist in the inspection or assembly of one of their designs.

Works directly with sales representatives and customers by phone and at customer site to install, troubleshoot and evaluate Andritz products and R&D initiatives.

Within skill capabilities and availability, performs other duties as assigned to assure the efficient operation of the department and company.

Complies with all company guidelines, safety program, quality program, rules and regulations.

Location/Travel Requirements:

The preferred location for this position is Springfield, MA and Remote candidates may be considered. Travel may be required (less than 10%).


Coordination: Insi Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. engineering discipline) or equivalent; two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Autocad/Inventor skills are essential

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

  • Working knowledge of Design for Manufacturing

  • Computer ability (standard Windows based programs)

  • Professional image

  • Self-starter

THIS MAY BE A GRADE 12 OR GRADE 14 DEPENDING ON YOUR EXPERIENCE Process Engineer - Aseptic Fluid WHAT YOU'LL DO * The Process Engineer implements and maintains plant equipment, systems and other fixed assets to a high standard of safety, quality and productivity at the lowest possible cost while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. * This role provides engineering support to all aspects of the operation to a 24-hour production facility. * Applies working knowledge of engineering disciplines Independently conceives and develops approaches to problem solving that requires advanced technical knowledge. * Solves problems that have a variety of complex features, such as, conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements. * Plan schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. * Facilitates the definition of a project scope with internal customers. * Applies new technology where feasible. * Direct the efforts of others such as technicians and outside resources. Interface with project team members, department managers, designers, R&D, Corporate and Division Engineering * Perform tasks such as writing Requests for Capital Expenditure, Change Requests, Scope Documents, etc. * Provide technical support to the Tipp City plant, division engineering, and the Quality Assurance to support new product introductions, new process/equipment start-up, process optimizations, vendor qualifications, and process alternative evaluations. * Implement new and/or current manufacturing methods into manufacturing. * Monitor production to determine areas of improvement and react to unforeseen production/manufacturing issues. * Provide technical training to plant personnel including engineering, equipment operators, electricians, instrument technicians, and maintenance. * Create and execute validation activities according to plant/division policy. * Plans and conducts small to medium-sized projects. Responsibilities include detailed project planning/monitoring, project reviews, implementation, validation, and release to production. * Create equipment/process specifications, drawings, and software as required and ensure that existing documentation is accurate and appropriate. * Research, recommend, implement, and qualify replacement parts for discontinued/obsolete components, equipment, and software. * Provide excellent customer service to the production teams and meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Required * B.S. in Engineering with a preference for a Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience. * 5+ years' experience in process engineering in an aseptic production environment * Demonstrated project management skills * Good communication skills, both written and verbal required. * Possesses a working technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices, and procedures of aseptic fluid process systems. * Understanding of process controls system wiring * Understanding of process control devices and how to install and setup. * Working knowledge of proper sanitary design and cleaning technology * Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. * Strong leadership skills required. Interacts well with diverse groups within the operation and maintains strong working relationships with internal in a collaborative, fast-paced, goal-driven environment.
