Essential Functions

Position Summary:

Handles design tasks and functions for assigned products or projects. Assists engineering team with project work to the successful completion of development projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Interface with all functional areas to provide technical support.

  • Work with project teams to provide technical data, initiate test requests, and summarize results.

  • Utilize the CAD system to provide sketches and preliminary design drawings as needed.

  • Assist the engineering test lab to provide test assemblies and post test analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering Field

  • 1 to 2 years experience.

  • Familiarity with personal computing, CAD and Office software.

  • Good organizational and communication skills.

  • Possess some degree of mechanical aptitude.

  • Willingness to take a "hands-on" approach to learn and accomplish project goals.

This position uses continuous improvement, plant engineering, and preventative/predictive maintenance methodologies to drive significant improvements in manufacturing efficiencies. Duties And Responsibilities: * Responsible for overseeing development, planning, and execution of small and large capital projects for plant operations. Responsibilities include: defining project scope, developing solutions, and partnering with vendors, consultants, and contractors to develop and install projects. Drive control schedule to accomplish projects on time and within cost estimate * Lead team in the identification of production and process changes, partner with operations leadership to develop and implement engineering improvements, resulting in greater operational efficiencies * Set vision for maintenance function regarding preventative maintenance program. Drive continuous improvement in maintenance program leading to predictive maintenance model. * Ensure vision is set and resources available to strategically develop technical skill sets for maintenance staff; partner with Human Resources to establish clear employee development programs and external talent pipelines for skilled trades * Manage a portfolio of lean projects directed at reducing waste and improving quality to provide greater value; implements such tools as: 5S, KPI, SMED, VSM, and Kaizen. * Train and lead cross-functional continuous improvement teams including advancement of the understanding of lean principles (TPM) and techniques; focusing on measurable quality, service, and cost improvements * Provide technical guidance, training, and development for Plant Engineer and Production teams; assisting in setting annual operational targets and help drive improvements to achieve those targets * Other duties, as assigned Education And Experience Required: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering field (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Chemical) * 8+ years' Engineering experience (Project, Process, or Plant) * 3+ years' experience in food manufacturing * Must have previous experience managing multiple large projects simultaneously * Previous experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) * Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time Preferred Education, Experience, And Skills: * 15+ years Engineering experience * Six Sigma Black Belt certification and strong LEAN Manufacturing expertise: 5+ years with black belt * Previous leadership or supervisory experience * Previous experience with Auto CAD * Effective written and verbal communication skills * Strategic planning skills * Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills Physical Requirements: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation: * Must be able to lift up-to 10 pounds for 3+ hours per shift * Must be able to lift up-to 34 pounds for 3+ hours per shift * Must be able to sit for 8+ hours per shift * Must be able to balance, bend, crouch, kneel, stand, stoop, walk, reach above shoulders, and climb/work off ladder for 3+ hours per shift * Must be able to work in a hot, humid, and cold manufacturing environment for 3+ hours per shift * Must be able to perform simple grasping, pushing, pulling, perform fine manipulation for 3+ hours per shift * Must be able to make fine distinctions in sound, and express ideas by spoken and written word Post Holdings New Hope MN
