Job Summary

The Design Development Manager is responsible for working with the Real Estate Investment team, Reposition/Redevelopment team, Project Managers, Project Engineers, onsite staff, and Camden support groups to prepare, monitor and adjust design specifications and finishes, approve submittals, manage RFI's and plan document management.

Responsibilities

Architectural Plan Review and Coordination:

  • Create specifications sheets and select all finishes

  • Attend Design meetings, track changes and update specs

  • Distribute specifications to and from architect, consultants and construction as requested

  • Review floor plan designs for accuracy as it relates to unit data, phone, cable, electrical and mechanical layouts

  • Maintain basis of design and Camden standards

  • Manage communication to and from the owner to architect, construction and then track changes

  • Ensure that all plans are filed and available for review

  • Review submittals for materials, including plumbing, elevator finishes, lighting, appliances, audio video, doors and windows, hardware, and fencing

  • Review plans to ensure specs and any updates are current

Interior Design Coordination:

  • Coordinate FFE with design professionals

  • Prepare spec sheets

  • Communicate with the reposition team to assist with coordination of products

  • Utilize CAD to layout pool finishes, furniture and amenity space

  • Select exterior paint schemes

  • Select light fixtures as determined by the municipalities and verify the photometric study is correct

OnSite Inspection and Coordination:

  • Review shop drawings and field verify

  • Perform first walk of amenity spaces and units

  • Perform box walks with ID/Construction/OPS

  • Mock-up for final approval

  • Attend the new community construction close-out meetings

Research and Design Innovation:

  • Conduct research on new products, trends and innovations

  • Create regional look books of design trends

Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 3 years of related experience required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel & Outlook, Autocad, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch Up or equivelent

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Job is intermittently sedentary but requires mobility (i.e., climb stairs)

  • Will use some repetitive motion of hand-wrist in using computer and writing

  • Must have normal range of vision to complete paperwork and computerized documentation; hearing and speech to communicate with residents, vendors, supervisors and coworkers on the telephone or in person on a regular basis

  • Must handle stressful, urgent, novel and diverse work situations on a daily basis

  • Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes in this position

  • Works in a typical office setting with daily exposure to outdoor environment (i.e., heat, cold, damp, rain, etc.)

  • Hazards can be avoided with proper lifting techniques, SDS and general safety training

  • Will be regularly called upon to work long hours and odd schedules (including weekends)

  • Position requires periodic travel by automobile to handle work-related activities

  • Requires airline travel, out-of-town and /or overnight trips

  • Attendance and punctuality is essential for success in this position
