Job Description

Our Bassett Design Consultants are responsible for building meaningful and long-term customer relationships. They have comprehensive knowledge ranging from furniture construction to design trends.

They use relationship selling techniques through interior design consultations and makeovers to maximize selling opportunities. Our design consultants take joy in the design process!

With our generous commission-based compensation plan, your income is limited only by the amount of effort you apply. In addition to your commission compensation, there are other bonus opportunities. The potential income ranging from our experienced Bassett Design Consultants to our top writers, is $45000-$120000/year.

Learn more about how we build homes built on relationships by visiting JOB SUMMARY: Building on the relationship established with our home buyers after they've purchased their energy efficient KB home, a Studio consultant helps customers personalize their home through the selection of name brand products and design choices. With in-house training that is extensive, engaging, interactive and on-going, a Studio Consultant educates and encourages buyers to make design choices that fit their needs and budget and then accurately enters those selections and supporting information into the Company database. Consultants help maintain an attractive retail environment and share the responsibility of accurately displaying and labeling products and features. A Studio consultant realizes the value in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the Studio experience is positive and productive for each family. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: * Greet buyers in the Studio showroom and conduct professional, informational tours and one-on-one design appointments with customers. Through investigation, understand each buyer's wants, needs and design perspective while providing positive advice and direction. Provide exceptional customer service at all times to buyers, vendors, trade partners and co-workers. * Share information regarding standard design features and additional choices per plan. Guide the customer in making and finalizing their design choices in a timely manner while staying within prescribed budget and mortgage limitations with the goal of creating a satisfied KB Home customer for life. * Accurately enter buyer design and product choices into KB Home's customized database and complete all necessary documentation for individual homebuyer files. Accurately maintain all required individual files and supporting Studio internal trackers and company databases, as needed. * Works with sales, marketing, operations and Studio employees to ensure all design choices are accurately reflected in all areas of the business, including pricing and availability per plan. Audits database for accurate information on all product offerings. Audits current plans in the various systems for accuracy and availability. Reports discrepancies to the appropriate departments for correction in a timely manner. * Make certain the Studio environment is maintained in safe, excellent condition at all times to ensure an accurate, attractive retail space and reports deficiencies to the appropriate supervisors in a timely manner. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education/Certifications/Licenses * High school degree or equivalent required * Associates or bachelor's degree preferred * Interior Design degree preferred Experience * Previous retail experience in customer service-oriented environment required * 1 to 4 years of retail experience with a homebuilder or similar industry preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * Ability to connect with people, and develop and maintain professional relationships * Action oriented, with the drive to meet individual and department goals and timelines * Proven ability of being customer centric by seeking solutions from the customer's perspective * Strong verbal & written communication, with the ability to take complex concepts and communicate succinctly and persuasively * Strong ability to work within a team-setting, inclusive of other's ideas, and a willingness to cooperate * Makes quick and accurate decisions based heavily on facts, data and/or metrics. * Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
