Duties: Execute technical research and design next generation technologies to support the growth of the e-commerce fulfillment network.
Build and execute simulation models that can identify potential bottleneck and improvement opportunities with the design and make recommendations to maximize customer service level and overall return on investment. Collaborate with various cross functional partners to collect the necessary data. Validate the underlying assumptions and guiding principles.
Build/configure models to represent the concept design. Execute models and generate KPI for automation systems and associates. Analyze the output and make recommendations for improvement.
Simulate operation execution algorithms that drive product put away/replenishment, splitting SKUs across multiple totes, order prioritization, order batching, etc. and make recommendations of optimization algorithms that maximizes asset utilization, throughput and system/associate performance. Build 3-D animation and visualization of simulation models and present it to the engineering leadership team to effectively communicate potential opportunities for design improvement.
Support continuous improvement by actively adhering to lean principles, design of experiments, failure mode effect analysis, design for Six Sigma, design for Mean Time To Repair (MTTR). Develop innovative engineering solutions to use within the extended Jet.com and Wal-Marts e-commerce fulfillment networks (including Jet Sortable, Jet Fresh, Walmart sortable, Walmart Non-sortable, Sams Club, Hayneedle, Shoebuy, etc.) to lower Variable Cost Per Unit (VCPU) and Total Cost Per Unit (TCUP). Design and develop simulation models to evaluate the efficiency of the order fulfillment automation systems and executes sensitivity simulations on change in SKU profile, order profile, inflow/outflow, etc.
Reduce operating expenses within the supply chain by building engineering simulation models that will be used to evaluate the performance and capability of our complex and integrated order fulfillment automation systems. Design engineering models and simulations of automation/automated systems and warehouse automation systems.Minimum education and experience required: Masters or equivalent in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Engineering (Any) or related quantitative discipline.
