ABOUT THE ROLE

Interior Define is seeking a new team member to play a key role in expanding our brand story by joining our NYC Guideshop. We are looking for a passionate individual who is excited to grow, innovate and disrupt the home furnishings industry through a transformative experience.

The ideal candidate is eager to help us expand our brand, and to create a unique customer experience that far exceeds the uninspired, traditional furniture buying process. We are a fast-growing, start-up reinventing the way people shop for custom furniture (beginning with sofas).

  • You adapt to each situation quickly and are able to drive full ownership of your work. You jump in and you solve problems. You are able to troubleshoot quickly, but also know the right times to ask for help.

  • You look for opportunities to make things better and faster (without compromising quality).

  • You are customer focused. Our brand revolves around delivering an exceptional and differentiated customer experience. With that, you aim to make each customer experience better and will never settle for "that is good enough".

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage complete selling process from customer first touch to purchase execution and ensure the customer experience is exceptional.

  • Field inquiries (and ultimately sell) to consumers over the phone, email, and importantly in person in our Guideshop.

  • Help cultivate our brand culture in New York, building a community around our new Guideshop.

  • Advocate the I/D brand story.

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is excited about growth with the following credentials:

  • You have 2-3 years experience in sales and/or hospitality.

  • You are comfortable managing sales relationships, setting team goals, and maintaining sales performance objectives.

  • You have exceptional attention to detail and the ability to translate details into actionable responses.

  • You are a clear, effective communicator.

  • You love interacting with customers (and teammates).

  • You are self-directed and willing to learn new things, ask questions, and promote customer experiences.

Great to have

  • Retail project management experience.

  • Knowledge about design and furniture.

  • Proficiency in Excel and / or Google Sheets.

  • Experience with the customer service platform Zendesk.

The Role The Associate Specialist, Head of Sale is responsible for managing sale process including catalogue production and exhibition. Working closely with the Head of Department, in this position, the Head of Sale manages and oversees the photography, research and cataloguing of property, and provides guidance and mentorship to the sale's support team. This role requires in-depth knowledge of client relationship management and subject matter expertise across the art category, the relevant markets for the category, as well as the process related to producing a sale. Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to * Work with the Head of Department to orchestrate sale composition and structure. * ]Business-get in specialist areas of expertise and in assigned geographical areas, as appropriate. * Continue to follow existing processes and approval matrix for structuring and negotiating consignment deals. * Review incoming photo inquiries to determine sale potential, partnering with Specialists on expertise, pricing, cataloguing, research, client relationships and standards of client service. * Participate in departmental hilling sessions to determine value, condition, and marketability of property. * Manage the preparation of all catalogue descriptions and essays that are contributed by the team. * Manage the successful completion of the photography, layout, and final sign-off of each catalogue. * Oversee the pre-sale exhibition set-up effectively leading department members and Operations teams. * Participate in targeted marketing efforts and work with buyers prior to and during sale week to pre-sell the sale. * Participate in Telephone Bidding with clients during the auction. * Liaise with the Estates, Appraisals & Valuations department, working on appraisals as a means of generating new long-term business opportunities and reconnecting with inactive clients. * Strategize with Head of Department and Business Director to agree participation in events, art fairs, and other functions to remain abreast of market activity and represent Christie's. * Other duties as determined by Management team.
