Deputy Public Works Director

Duties:

To assist in planning, directing, managing, and overseeing the activities and operations of the Public Works Department.

To assume management responsibility for assigned divisions, including Engineering, Bridges & Drainage, Solid Waste, Traffic, Central Supply and Building and Grounds Divisions.

To coordinate assigned activities with other city departments, division, and outside agencies and to provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Public Works Director.

Receives general administrative direction from the Public Works Director.

Exercises direct supervision over management, supervisory, professional, technical clerical and maintenance staff.

Qualifications:

Eight (8) years of increasingly responsible experience in public works, including six (6) years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.

License or Certificate:

Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate valid driver's license.

PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
