The Deputy Chief Project Engineer will help coordinate the entire Collins Aerospace ES engineering effort required to support the PW 30K programs (PW1100G-JM and PW1400G). In this highly visible role, the candidate will have the opportunity to work not only with Collins Aerospace engineering but also coordinate with Collins Aerospace Program Office and Pratt & Whitney. The candidate will be expected to stand in on behalf of the Chief Project Engineer as required. The candidate will also be expected to manage communications between the engineering teams, the customer, and with both PW and Collins Aerospace Senior Leadership.

Primary responsibilities will include at a minimum the following activities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Project Engineering IPTs in support of the PW 30K programs

  • Manage overall program milestones though tracking IPT's to commitment and providing overall program execution communication

  • Maintain overall program technical risk assessment including the identification of program level technical risk mitigation plans and establishing and tracking tasks to reduce risk

  • Coordinate overall program technical communications internally and externally

  • Be the engineering focal point for the PW 30K programs for ensuring tasks are appropriately planned, baselined and tracked via EVMS. Ensure all IPTs are tracking to their plans.

  • Ensure all technical scope changes are properly coordinated with the Program Office and full alignment is gained prior to execution of unplanned work

  • Communicate effectively (verbally and written) to program team, management, and PW

  • Coordinate with Collins Aerospace functional managers to ensure proper resource plans are in place

  • Education / Certifications

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering from a four-year university required

  • Experience / Qualifications

  • Position is only open to employees within ES business unit under PWES segment. Any employees meeting the minimum requirements and currently belonging or charging to PWES businesssegment are eligible to apply to posting.

  • Job requires excellent communication and project management skills

  • Understands the benefits and challenges of leading cross-functional teams

  • Experience with Controls Systems on commercial Engines is a plus

  • Ability to communicate clearly across all levels of the organization (including Executive leadership)

  • Industry experience in Aerospace and Defense is a plus

  • Position requires individual to be on site at Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford, CT approximately 20 percent of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience required.

  • Project Engineering or Program Management highly preferred.
