Job Summary:

The Deputy Program Manager is responsible to support the Director Ship Management to consistently deliver a high level of service by managing the timely flow of information and reports to the Customer, including but not limited to task order requests, claims data, and training reports. The Deputy Program Manager will assist with budget preparation and expense tracking, and monitor the progress on contract deliverables, and progressively develop an in-depth understanding of ship management and operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with oversight of budgets and development of bids and proposals.

  • Review and report on task order funding and project status.

  • Perform routine checks on status contract deliverables and due dates, ex. MARAD vessel status report and crew training. Assist with submission of same.

  • Interface with Claims (TPA and Risk) regarding status of medical claims, prepare and submit necessary documentation to Customer. Ensure task orders remain valid with regards to funding and period of performance.

  • Assist with plans and execution for activations and when transitioning between phases.

  • Manage assignment of Port Agents for FOS Vessels, review/approve port agent proformas and final disbursements.

  • Review master's cash reports prior to final approval by Director of Ship Management

  • Ensure ROS/FOS ships are properly supplied with medical supplies.

  • Work with IT to ensure ships are compliant with cybersecurity policies.

  • Work with Dept. Safety to review and update heavy weather plans, assist with MARAD Safety Surveys as necessary.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: n/a

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree from a Maritime Academy and a USCG license is required. Sailing experience is preferred. This is an entry level position that would be a good fit for a recent college graduate.

Qualification Requirements: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be eligible to possess DOD SECRET security clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • General understanding of vessel operations, maritime safety regulations, and environmental protection standards.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with diverse groups.

  • Proficient skills with Microsoft tools including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to read and understand contract terms, technical procedures, and governmental regulations as it pertains to ship management.

  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform demanding tasks in a maritime environment.
