EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1)  CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PARISH COUNCIL AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.Under the supervision of the Parish Clerk, this position provides highly responsible administrative support pertaining to the assembling, indexing, filing and processing of information relative to Jefferson Parish Council meetings and activities.  Performs supervisory work above the office management level and is responsible for organizing and managing all phases of the administrative operations of a major division, office, or agency of Parish government.

 Employee in this classification is responsible for ensuring compliance with departmental standards, policies, and procedures. Performs administrative support functions, i.e., preparing meeting agendas/agenda packets, coordinating and maintaining executive calendar; ordering materials and supplies; coordinating the distribution and receipt of proposals. Performs related work as required. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.

Current employment with Jefferson Parish in an administrative position in the Parish Clerk's or Parish Attorney's Office with responsibility for drafting, processing, or reviewing Parish Ordinances or Resolutions.

Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.(ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)

The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof.  Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing.
