Assist public at the counter; file pleadings and new cases files; file documents and court shucks at the warehouse; pull files from the warehouse and bring back to the courthouse; receive payments; receive name search requests.

  • Locate case files for the public and locate/check out files to attorneys.

  • Fill requests for copies and receive fees.

  • Certify copies.

  • Perform records search.

  • File documents in criminal files and assist with filings as needed in other areas.

  • Answer phone calls and prepare correspondence related to records searches.

  • Assist with transitioning files to the warehouse.

  • Fill requests to pull files from the warehouse and return files to the warehouse when no longer needed.

  • Other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent required. Computer data entry experience, customer service experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, modern office equipment including computer software, filing systems.

Must be able to type or keyboard data entry at a rate of 30 net words per minute. Must have knowledge and skills to perform basic math principles. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.

Must be able to prioritize tasks to be performed. Must be able to work independently in the absence of supervision. Must be able to respond appropriately and professionally to requests and inquiries from the general public and courthouse personnel.

Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing. Must be able to apply laws, rules, regulations and procedures applicable to job duties assigned. Must be able to read and understand manuals, instructions and documents. Must be able to analyze various situations and determine best solution within authority delegated.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Must be able to stand, walk, kneel and/or bend to perform essential functions. Must be able to reach, grip, and use fine dexterity to operate a computer, office equipment and handle/manipulate papers. Must be able to push and pull objects.

Must be able to flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially at the knees. Must be able to rotate upper trunk to the left or right while sitting or standing. Must be able to place arms above, at or below shoulder height.

Must have use of visual and depth perception. Must have speech, hearing, and visual acuity necessary to operate computer, office equipment, and file documents and court shucks.
