The Finance and Accounting Deputy Director is responsible for leading individuals and teams responsible for the overall core accounting functions, including system configuration, month-end/year-end system close and all related consolidated reporting to the headquarters office.
This individual will lead, motivate, and train professionals performing general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and projects/billing functions as well as leading/overseeing compliance with all applicable requirements of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards Board (CASB) and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). Will also serve as primary point of contact for support requests from the headquarters office and internal and external audits. Will work closely with the Director of Finance in establishing and executing strategy and implementing change throughout the organization.
Work scope may include any/all of the following duties:
Act as the focal point and primary communicator for all financial auditors (independent and otherwise) and regulatory issues (IRS, DCAA, FAR, etc.). Manages response to all requests for information from external auditors and agencies including incurred cost submissions, requests for data, final contract close-outs, etc.
Lead the corporate finance function in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the requirements of regulatory agencies (such as IRS, DCAA, FAR, etc.) and practices within the company's sectors. Monitor compliance with all aspects of proper accounting methods including compliance with the Cost Accounting Standards. Responsible for updating the CAS Disclosure Statement as necessary.
Demonstrate an understanding of the company's mission and structure and develop strategies by which the finance function can extend and support the company's success.
Manage the overall finance function and the flow of accurate / timely corporate financial information and reporting.
Lead the control, accounting and internal financial reporting functions. Oversee all accounting policy, process and procedural matters.
Maintain a robust system of internal controls and audit procedures including managing the company's relationship with its outside audit firm.
Maintain and add value in relationships with key finance activities including financial analysis and project finance.
Maximize the function's value contribution where possible by integrating new finance tools and awareness into business operations.
In coordination with the headquarters, responsible for all Federal, State and local requirements including managing all tax requirements.
Motivate, develop and lead team.
Provide leadership while taking a hands-on role in assisting, defining, developing and implementing the strategy of their group.
Internally, act as point of contact for Business Unit Management, operations, technology, and accounting personnel. Externally, act as a point of contact with outside accounting firms, government agencies, systems personnel and other vendors as necessary.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field and 14 years of related experience is required.
An MBA, CPA, or related advanced degree is preferred
Knowledge, skills & abilities required:
8 years of demonstrated management experience required within a similar role
Ability to work independently yet motivate and lead a team
Must have strong character and effective communication skills.
Must have knowledge of all reporting issues at the federal and state level.
Must be able to lead, energize and influence a wide spectrum of people including senior management, financial and operational staff. Provide a high level of energy, a powerful work ethic, and open participative hands-on approach to execution of his /her roles.
Ability to maintain internal processes and controls
Must have skills in Business Services sectors with progressive financial reporting and managerial responsibilities, including demonstrated experience successfully building, leading, motivating, and training high performing teams.
Must have proven financial and accounting skills commensurate with those of an established corporate accounting manager.
Experience with revenue recognition.
A solid understanding and working knowledge of financial analysis, accounting procedures and principles.
Must be results-driven, hands-on manager who is both comfortable and effective in a highly demanding, decentralized environment and able to multi-task by executing upon several project initiatives at one time while completing day to day responsibilities.
Must have high energy, be self-confident, and be able to handle and implement change.
Well developed analytical, organizational, communications and interpersonal skills working at all levels of a corporation are required.
Strong analytical and interpretive skills.
Capable of providing the company with financial analysis as required for detailing financial impacts, business impacts and analysis of risk versus return tradeoffs.
Will have detailed knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), significant DCAA and FAR experience, G/L and accounting computer systems to maintain accounts, system functions and integrity of financial data.
May require a secret clearance
Physical requirements Work is primarily sedentary. Some walking and standing may occur in the course of a normal workday in connection with travel to and from meeting and conferences. May carry light items, such as reports, data products, notebooks and laptops.
Work Environment Cubicle environment is in a secure site.
With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential.
Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines.
