We are accepting applications for a Deputy Director 5, position number 20097457 within the Office of Hospital Services, headquartered at the James Rhodes State Office Tower, 30 East Broad Street, 36th floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
Role Overview:
What you'll do:
Serves as the Deputy Director of Hospital Services (HS)
Contributes to the vision and strategic direction of Hospital Services in alignment with Department goals
Provides operational leadership of the division (i.e., defines, develops, implements, and evaluates goals, objectives, policies, and operations ensuring consistency with OhioMHAS direction, Department operations, and standards)
Directs, manages, & ensures updated procedures
Provides direction and oversight of HS Chief Executive Officer's (CEOs) for the Regional Psychiatric Hospitals (RPHs)
Directs & maintains HS and RPH budget
Regularly, collaborates with, provides strategic, and operational support to the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Clinical Officers (CCOs) at the RPHs.
Develops, implements and monitors RPH performance indicators for health information management, operational efficiency, policy adherence, Joint Commission readiness, admissions & discharge, & clinical service quality & outcome measurement
Leads development of strategic initiatives in alignment with HS goals
Identifies and develops strategic goals, initiatives, and budgets
Analyzes proposed & actual projects
Prepares cost estimates for current & proposed projects
Evaluates vendor proposals for integration & adherence to specifications
Participates in vendor selection & negotiations
Coordinates, plans, implements & participates in continuous quality improvement activities & utilizes results to improve quality of services provided
Serves as member of the OhioMHAS Executive Leadership Team (e.g., attends leadership meetings, participates in strategic & operational planning, provides input on decisions regarding policy, budgeting, & resource utilization)
Serves as HS representative and represents HS or the agency in front of various internal and external groups (i.e., Hospital Services Workgroup, Behavioral Health Leadership, Controlling Board, Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Boards, providers, local, state, and Federal agencies)
Works collaboratively with all agency departments to resolve operational problems related to Hospital Services
Collaborates with Central Office and Human Resources to identify HS recruitment needs
Participates in the selection of HS and RPH staff
Assists in the negotiation of Community Support Network (CSN) services including contract development & compliance with service outcomes established
Job duty, knowledge, skill, and ability statements at a lower-level are understood to be able to be performed at any higher level.

Preferred Qualifications:
At least 5 years' experience, in a psychiatric setting
At least 3 years' experience in a forensic setting
Joint commission accreditation experience.
