Job Description Level II
The Collin County Clerk is seeking individuals to fill the position of Deputy Clerk II in our Probate section. The person who fills this position must have the ability to create positive relationships and maintain clear and positive communication with the Probate Judge, Court Administrator and attorneys.
This position is responsible for processing applications for probating wills and guardianships, accurately scanning all relevant documents in Odyssey database, issuing abstracts for elections, preparing citations, filing new cases and issuing letters for executors and guardians as well as opening, filing and distributing daily mail, posting the court docket, preparing files, processing reports, preparing correspondence and collecting fees. The successful candidate will have the ability to provide excellent customer service on the phone and in person to customers and attorneys, assist with researching files, answer general questions and answer phone calls. Duties include balancing a cash drawer at the end of the business day and accurately preparing bank deposits. This position will be expected to perform heavy data entry with a high level of accuracy.
Work requires strong knowledge of software applications including MS Windows 7 and MS Office 2010 or higher. Must have ability to perform advanced data entry and scanning functions with strong accuracy and attention to detail, and must have strong customer service skills. Must possess strong organizational and communication skills and demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time. A broad knowledge of legal terminology and documents, and the court system is highly desired.
Must have level of education equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency and at least two years of work experience. The ability to pass a typing test with a rate of 50 WPM is required. Ability to pass a criminal background check is required.
Testing Requirements
This position requires that you pass a typing test at the minimum rate specified above.
Typing tests are administered in the Human Resources Testing room from 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. You do not need an appointment to test, but you will need to bring a government issued photo ID.
