Deputy County Clerk I- Criminal Front Counter

Job Description

Collin County is seeking candidates for the position of Deputy County Clerk I, Civil Front Counter. Assists the public at the front office counter, answers phones, and opens and directs mail.

Prepares records for filming and indexing by pulling court orders and judgements and entering the information into the computer system. Prepares related reports and correspondence such as cash bond releases, judgments and sentence requests. Responsible for cash drawer, receipt money and balance at close of business.

Provides related clerical assistance to the department and other duties as requested by supervisor. Work is performed under the direction of the County Clerk.

Candidates must possess the knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. No previous experience is required. A level of education equivalent to four years of high school and the ability to pass a typing test at the rate of 35 words per minute are required.

Testing Requirements

This position requires that you pass a typing test at the minimum rate specified above.

• If you have taken a typing test with us within the last 6 months that meets or exceeds the requirements above, you do not need to take it again.

• If you have never taken our typing test, have not met the requirements above, or it has been more than 6 months since your last test, you will need to take the test in order for your application to be complete.

Typing tests are administered in the Human Resources Testing room from 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. You do not need an appointment to test, but you will need to bring a government issued photo ID.
