Summary

This position works in the operation divisions of the District of Columbia Courts providing administrative and clerical support as assigned.

This announcement will create a roster for all Superior Court Deputy Clerk vacancies.

The starting salary will be a Grade 6, Step 1 unless you are currently in the Federal or DC Government.

Responsibilities

The Deputy Clerk works in the operational divisions of the District of Columbia Courts providing administrative and clerical support as assigned. The duties include some or all of the following:

Assists the general public, attorneys, judicial officers and staff.
Reviews and processes documents and orders.
Completes forms or other materials such as warrants, summonses, complaints, and subpoenas.
Provides and receives information from citizens, police officers and witnesses as necessary for clarifying facts or preparing reports.
Enters and retrieves data using automated databases and manual logs.
Maintains calendars, appointments, juries, and services.
Collects and compiles statistical data.
Administers oaths or affirmations.
Types correspondence, reports, and other documents.
Files jackets and case documents.

Qualifications

To meet minimum qualifications, you must have a High School Diploma or GED certificate, plus two (2) years of clerical or administrative experience. MUST provide documentation of education or your application will not be considered.

Please note that authorization for the release of your adult criminal record revealing any convictions and forfeitures, and any criminal cases currently pending before the courts are required. If you are selected for the position, a criminal history records check will be conducted.
The incumbent should be an enthusiastic and engaged professional who enjoys working with a diverse group of Court personnel and customers and lives the DC Courts values of Accountability, Excellence, Fairness, Integrity, Respect, and Transparency.

Education

To qualify based on education, applicants must upload a legible copy of an official or non-official transcript to verify your education at the time of application. Transcript must contain the following information: 1) school name, 2) student name, 3) area of study, 4) the list of courses with credit hours and 5) cumulative GPA or class ranking. If selected following your initial application, you will be required to provide an official transcript before the start of your assignment.

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
