DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK
This position is responsible for assisting in directing and managing the operations of an assigned area. Responsibilities include supervising staff; assisting in the administration of elections; and performing related office tasks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; coordinating staff training; and supporting personnel procedures.
Assists in administering elections, including: ordering ballots, applications, and other election supplies; processing absentee ballot applications; programming computers for election use; troubleshooting equipment; responding to various inquiries; compiling election results; and performing related tasks.
Assists the clerk to monitor the maintenance of various records to ensure compliance with retention policies; monitors the issuance and registration of licenses to ensure compliance with ordinances and regulations.
Recommends changes in policies and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
Assists in preparing the department budget; prepares related reports.
Performs related office tasks, including: processing payroll, requisitions, and related transactions; assists in reviewing agendas, ordinances, and other documents for accuracy; and taking meeting notes.
Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required often.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING/LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
Associate's degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience working on elections within a municipal City Clerk office; or, an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or certifications sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
