This Departmental Specialist 13 - Limited Term position will be responsible for administration and management of the Michigan Incarcerated Veterans In-reach Program (MIVIP), as well as other grant projects or initiatives serving the veteran population throughout the state. The position will serve as a resident expert on programs and initiatives administered within the section.

This position has statewide responsibility for the fiscal and programmatic administration of the MIVIP and other programs and initiatives administered within the section.  This position is responsible for analyzing and interpreting federal and state laws, rules, and regulations related to the state's employment and training programs in support of veterans' employment services. The position will oversee the activities related to these projects; manage all phases of grant activity including application, budgeting, reporting, performance, and closeout; provides input to Agency leadership on policies, procedures, guidelines, processes, and systems based on the Agency's mission; and builds partnerships with key stakeholders to conduct and enhance initiatives.

Position DescriptionEducation

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience

Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.

Salary for this position is entirely federally funded.  Under federal law an employee whose salary is entirely federally funded may not be a candidate for public office in a partisan election.

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications

Equivalent combinations of nonprofessional experience, identified by the appointing authority and approved by Civil Service that are represented by subclass codes, will be accepted for classified, professional experience equivalent to the P11-level and above. The nonprofessional experience must be related to departmental programs and services that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
